China's highest grossing movie of all-time is finally coming to North America, but as this trailer clearly states, it "ain't no Avatar." The movie is called Let the Bullets Fly and it is a period action movie set in the 1920s. There's no wuxia to be found here; instead it's filled with bloody fist fights and violent shootouts. It looks to be a Western of sorts, perhaps in the vein of Kim Ji-woon's The Good, The Bad, The Weird. Indeed, I was pretty surprised by how gruesome and off-the-wall the first domestic red band trailer is.

The movie stars Chow Yun Fat as a local mobster in a remote provincial town who butts heads with a bandit (Jiang Wen) masquerading as the town's mayor. The two engage in a deadly mind game that ends up leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. The movie debuted in North America at the Tribeca Film Festival last year and will be released by Well Go USA next month. Let the Bullets Fly hits select theatres on March 2nd; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

In the lead up to Super Bowl weekend, I was thinking about the few big 2012 summer blockbusters that we have yet to see a trailer for, and The Bourne Legacy stood out as the biggest of the bunch. This week Universal has finally debuted the trailer, but just like Sony did with The Amazing Spider-Man, they decided to unveil it online instead of dropping a few million dollars on a 30 second TV spot that could easily be missed. The question is, will anyone care about a new Bourne movie without Jason Bourne?

As previously announced, The Bourne Legacy does not star Matt Damon but rather Jeremy Renner in the lead role, playing a new member of Operation Treadstone named Aaron Cross. Renner is a capable actor, but something tells me this could easily blur together with his recent role in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. It's unclear what Aaron Cross' story will be (aside from the fact that he can also kick all kinds of ass), but Edward Norton apparently plays the film's villain. Director Tony Gilroy wrote the screenplays for the previous three films and also directed Michael Clayton, so the movie seems to be in good hands, and yet it's hard not to see this as an extraneous spin-off from an already solid standalone trilogy. The Bourne Legacy hits theatres on August 3rd; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

It would seem that Sony had a new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man prepped and ready to go in time for Super Bowl Sunday but decided to just save the money and release it online the next day instead. In retrospect, it was probably a smart move, although they would have easily been the talk of the Super Bowl since most of the other trailers underwhelmed. The release of this trailer also coincides with a fan sneak preview event called The Amazing Spider-Man: The Untold Story, where the trailer was screened in 3D for fans in select cities along with 7 minutes of additional footage.

As for the trailer itself, it's two and a half minutes long and features all kinds of new footage including our first good look at The Lizard. It looks fine, but the big problem, as many thought it might be, is that it feels like we've already seen this story once before. I don't know that Marc Webb's take on the character is doing enough to distinguish itself from Sam Raimi's films, even though they are pushing this angle that Peter Parker's father was as an Oscorp employee who worked with Curt Connors. I guess the other thing it has over the previous films is the 3D element, but that's something we can't judge by simply watching this online. What do you think, are you sold on The Amazing Spider-Man? The movie hits theatres on July 3rd; check out the trailer after the jump and sound off in the comments below.

Since everyone here in North America still has football on the mind, it seems like as good a time as any to post the official trailer for the upcoming high school football documentary Undefeated (not to be confused with the similarly-titled Sarah Palin film The Undefeated). The movie generated a lot of strong buzz at TIFF last year and has since managed to drum up an Academy Award nomination. Although sports docs usually tend to get overlooked at the Oscars (Hoop Dreams, anyone?), this one is distributed by The Weinstein Company, which means it might actually have a shot at winning.

The movie follows The Manassas Tigers, an inner-city high school football team in Memphis, Tennessee that has been consistently destroyed by its opponents, partially because most of its star players either end up dead or in jail. However, coach Bill Courtney took over the team in 2004 and slowly started to turn things around, with the goal of winning the first playoff game in the school’s 110-year history. Underdog sports stories may be a dime a dozen, but they are slightly less common in non-fiction form and I've heard that this one packs an emotional wallop. I have to admit, the trailer alone gave me chills. Undefeated hits select theatres on Feb. 17th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Update: Added the extended version of The Avengers trailer with 30 seconds of additional footage.

In addition to the trailers that were released online early for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Dictator, and The Hunger Games, we now have access to the rest of the new trailers that aired during Super Bowl XLVI, and they have all been collected right here for your convenience. The most anticipated one of the bunch is obviously The Avengers, and although it's fairly short, it does seem to have the highest ratio of previously unseen footage. In particular, a couple of quick action shots including one of the Hulk punching a plane are sure to make fanboys giggle with delight.

Other new trailers include John Carter, Battleship and Act of Valor, all of which did their best to impress their target audience with an overload of explosions and special effects. There is also a new ad for Transformers: The Ride, opening soon at Universal Studios Hollywood, plus a couple of other movie-related commercials including the Ferris Bueller Honda ad that everyone has been talking about. Did we miss any other good ones? Which Super Bowl ad was your favourite? Check out the trailers after the jump.

The new Super Bowl commercial for The Hunger Games has gone online over at Yahoo!, and well... if this is all we can expect from this year's Super Bowl trailers, it could end up being a pretty boring game! Once again it consists primarily of footage we've seen before in other trailers, however, I will say that has a little more energy and urgency than the previous promos. It also has a little more Stanley Tucci, which is obviously a good thing. Lionsgate recently announced that The Hunger Games will be getting released in IMAX but for one week only. Will you pay a little extra to watch it on a really big screen? The movie hits theatres on March 23rd; check out the Super Bowl spot after the jump and see what you think.

Well if you're not too concerned about spoiling the Super Bowl experience for yourself, you can watch yet another Super Bowl trailer a few days before it airs during the big game. Paramount clearly has high hopes for Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator this summer, but unfortunately so far the marketing has been pretty underwhelming. This new TV spot doesn't add much aside from a quick Super Bowl-specific one-liner from Sacha Baron Cohen that is sure to inspire groans at Super Bowl parties everywhere. I'm hoping to be surprised by this one, but something tells me it could be Sacha Baron Cohen's first real misfire. The Dictator hits theatres on May 11th, 2012; check out the TV spot after the jump and see what you think.

From what I'm hearing, there aren't going to be a lot of big movie trailers debuting at the Super Bowl this year. For whatever reason, studios just can't be bothered to spend the money, but at least there are still a few manly movies being advertised, an obvious one being G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The 30 second spot has hit the web a few days early, although there's not too much to say about it. Aside from the addition of some Jay-Z lyrics, we saw most of this footage in the previous trailer. G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits theatres on June 29th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

What does it take to make a good stoner comedy? Does it only have to be funny if you watch it when you're high, or does it require a few extra laughs for those lame sober folks as well? Is it a prerequisite that the title has the word "high" in it somewhere? I don't have the answer to these questions, but I do know that I'm sort of on the fence with the trailer for the upcoming comedy High Road. It stars a ton of funny people including Lizzy Caplan, Ed Helms, Rob Riggle, Horatio Sans, Abby Elliott, Kyle Gass, Joe Lo Truglio and Zach Woods, but a lot of the jokes somehow seem to miss the mark.

The plot revolves around Glenn "Fitz" Fitzgerald (James F. Pumphrey), a young man who starts dealing pot after his band breaks up. When one drug deal goes bad, he takes a little road trip to try and escape his problems. High Road is co-written and directed by Matt Walsh, one of the founders of the Upright Citizens Brigade, and apparently it is largely improvised. In my experience, that can be either a blessing or a curse. High Road hits VOD, DVD and Blu-ray on March 6th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Gibber is back! Even P.R. blunders and underperforming Jodie Foster movies can't possibly keep this guy down. His new movie looks like an R-rated action / thriller / comedy in the same vein as the ones he used to make back in the '80s and '90s. It's called Get the Gringo (previously it went under the working title How I Spent My Summer Vacation), and it revolves around a career criminal who gets nabbed by the U.S. Border Patrol and ends up in Mexican prison, only to learn the ropes from a 10-year-old kid. It is co-written and directed by Adrian Grunberg, who was also the second unit director on Gibson's Apocalypto.

Now before you get too excited, it's worth noting that the movie will apparently forgo a traditional theatrical release and will debut on DirecTV instead, followed by a DVD and Blu-ray release later in the year. Is this an indication that the movie is sub-par or is it a bold new distribution move? That remains to be seen. According to Harry Knowles, who is hosting a special premiere screening of the film in Austin, Mel Gibson "once again challenges the status quo by bringing this authentic Peckinpah-ian pulpy tale directly to fans." That sounds like something Harry Knowles would say. Get the Gringo will hit DirecTV on May 1st at a cost of $10.99 per home viewing. Will this be a day one rental for you? Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Well what do you know? It's yet another Bourne imitation, this time starring the new Superman, Henry Cavill, with a little Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver thrown in for good measure. Cavill plays a Wall Street trader whose family is kidnapped while they are on vacation in Spain. It turns out his dad (played by Bruce Willis) is not the mild-mannered business consultant that he claims to be... he is actually a C.I.A. agent! Crazy, I know. Now Cavill must learn the family business if they are going to get out of the situation alive.

The movie is directed by Mabrouk El Mechri, and while you might not recognize the name, you've probably at least heard of his last film, JCVD... starring JCVD. This is his Hollywood debut, but unfortunately it looks a little too generic for my tastes (the script was co-written by Scott Wiper, who previously did The Condemned starring "Stone Cold" Steve Austin). That being said, I could still see it drawing a crowd, especially with Willis on board. The Cold Light of Day hits theatres on April 6th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that the second season of Game of Thrones is one of the most anticipated returns of a TV show we've had in quite some time. The first season went out on such an epic note that it's been agony waiting for the story to continue, and while I suppose the books are always there for people who don't want to wait, who the hell's got time for that? HBO has released the first full trailer for the new season this week, and although it's fairly vague, it certainly seems to hint at big things for Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage). "Winter" can't come soon enough. Game of Thrones Season 2 premieres on HBO on April 1st; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
