Hey guys, just wanted to remind you that we will be recording the Film Junk Podcast live tonight on Ustream, and we are hoping you will be able to join in the fun. We will be reviewing Roland Emmerich's 2012, talking about some news and trailers, and then answering your Junk Mail and your comments from the chat room.

The embedded video above will go live once we are broadcasting, but if you want to take part in the chat you'll have to click the link to go to the Ustream channel itself. You wouldn't pass up a chance to hang with a whole bunch of fellow Film Junkies for a couple hours, would you? The show starts at 8 pm Eastern Standard Time. See you then!

It's been a while now since we've recorded a live version of the Film Junk Podcast (I believe the last one was the borderline disastrous Star Trek episode [1] featuring Reed Farrington!) but we always enjoy the unpredictability of a live broadcast and also having the chance to interact with you guys directly. With the release of Roland Emmerich's 2012 this weekend, it feels like an event that needs to be celebrated in a very big way. So, with that in mind, we've decided... fuck it, we'll do it live! Here's all the info you need:

Film Junk’s Live 2012 Video Podcast
Sunday Nov. 15th @ 8 pm EST
Broadcasting Live on Ustream [2]

As always we will be taking questions from the chat room in the latter half of the show, although if you have questions or topics you would like us to discuss, you can always e-mail them in ahead of time to filmjunk@gmail.com [3]. Hope you can join us for what it is sure to be a podcast of apocalyptic proportions!

As another month draws to a close, our good friends over at Empire Theatres are preparing for another edition of their monthly Empire Fan Favourites event! This month we have not one but two different movies playing on separate nights. One is arguably the scariest movie of all time, William Friedkin's The Exorcist, while the other will be one of Adam Sandler's most popular comedies, Happy Gilmore. Guess which one is playing on Halloween? (No, seriously, guess.) Check out the details below:

Empire Fan Favourites: The Exorcist
Fri. Oct. 30th

Empire Fan Favourites: Happy Gilmore
Sat. Oct. 31st

For both films: 11:59 pm start
Empire Theatres, Pen Centre, St. Catharines
Admission: $6.99
+ Regular Drink and Popcorn: $9.99

You can order tickets online here [1] and here [2]. For more info about future Fan Favourites screenings, join the Facebook Group [3], or contact Empire Theatres at 905-682-8843.

Also, this week's Brock University Film Series [4] screening will be the documentary It Might Get Loud featuring Jimmy Page, the Edge, and Jack White. It starts at 7 pm.

Hey guys, we're going to be pre-recording next week's episode of the Film Junk Podcast tonight since I leave on Saturday for a two week trip to Japan. We'll be reviewing Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story, but aside from that we don't have much planned since we just recorded our most recent episode last night. Considering that we haven't really done a "Junk Mail" episode in a while, we thought we'd throw it over to you guys and ask for your input.

That's right, once again we're asking you to send in any questions, suggestions and potential topics for discussion to filmjunk@gmail.com [1], or simply post them in the comments below. We'll gather them up and respond to as many as possible later tonight (although the episode won't be posted until the weekend). If you've sent a question in previously that we didn't get to for some reason, feel free to send it in again. Just make sure you get it in sometime before 9:00 pm EST tonight. Thanks!

It's way overdue, but our short film project 'Colore Non Vedenti' is now officially complete and online! What started off as a ten minute Film Junk short for Halloween of '08 slowly grew into something a little bigger than expected, resulting in a months long process that was definitely a fun learning experience. A big thanks to all of those who helped get this thing finished -- be sure to read the end credits! -- and a big thanks to the Film Junkies who waited patiently for this to finally come to fruition! I hope you guys enjoy it. You can check out the final film embedded below or head to www.colorenonvedenti.com [1], where you'll also find multiple commentary tracks -- featuring Jay, Sean, Reed (Gerry), Tom Baychuck, Roman and star David Tompa -- and some behind the scenes video diaries! This whole thing was basically an exercise in no-budget filmmaking that gave us an opportunity to be creative and experiment, and I love the idea of throwing these things up online for everyone to see. I hope you enjoy!

You can check out the final film embedded below or head to www.colorenonvedenti.com, where you'll also find multiple commentary tracks -- featuring Jay, Sean, Reed (Gerry), Tom Baychuck, Roman and star David Tompa -- and some behind the scenes video diaries! This whole thing was basically an exercise in no-budget filmmaking that gave us an opportunity to be creative and experiment, and I love the idea of throwing these things up online for everyone to see. I hope you enjoy!

After fans spoke out last month and voiced their disappointment with the choice of 300 for Empire Fan Favourites, the good folks at Empire Theatres in St. Catharines have responded by securing a print of Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness for this upcoming weekend. What's more, it will be playing two nights instead of just one! Also note the earlier start time.

Here are the details:

Empire Fan Favourites: Army of Darkness
Fri. July 31st and Sat. Aug. 1st
11:30 pm start
Empire Theatres, Pen Centre, St. Catharines
Admission: $6.99
+ Regular Drink and Popcorn: $9.99

You can order tickets online here [1] and here [2]. For more info about future Fan Favourites screenings, join the Facebook Group [3], or contact Empire Theatres at 905-682-8843. Next month’s selection is still TBD.

Hey guys, just wanted to give you the heads up that we won't be recording a podcast this week. I had a family illness that interrupted our usual routine, and it's been difficult to co-ordinate a time to record ever since. Instead we'll just focus on having a bigger show next week. So hold tight, and in the meantime, why not go back and revisit some older episodes? Or, you know, read a book or something.

This past Monday we had our special LIVE Film Junk podcast, tackling this weekend's summer sci fi blockbuster, 'Star Trek'. It was a lively discussion and a lot of fun, but I felt as though we hardly even scratched the surface of what we had to say about the film. If any of you agree, we're glad to announce a special bonus follow-up podcast which myself (Jay) and Reed Farrington (The Shat) will be recording tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately, Sean can't make it and I'm making the leap to assume Greg isn't interested. Here's what we'll do though: let's make this post the 'official' thread for any questions, concerns, complaints or debates regarding JJ Abram's Star Trek. We'll use YOUR thoughts as a guide to our discussion and hopefully shed some light on our own thoughts about the film. There's a lot to discuss here (which is a good thing for a summer blockbuster, no?) so this episode will definitely contain MAJOR SPOILERS.

So there you have it. Start sharing your thoughts in the comments. Those of you who've already expressed your feelings elsewhere, feel free to simply copy and paste. We'll have the show up Wednesday night for your listening pleasure. Stay tuned!

And for those of you who need to catch up, you can find Monday's show here [1].
