Peter Weir's The Way Back didn't get much of a theatrical release last year, but it did manage to get a lot of positive reviews (including this one from Colin). The movie stars Ed Harris, Colin Farrell and Jim Sturgess, and is based on the true story of several prisoners from a Siberian labor camp who escape across the Gulag and battle the elements in an attempt to make the 4000 mile trek to India. The movie is hitting DVD and Blu-ray this week, and good news... we've got a copy of the DVD to give away to one lucky reader!

To enter, just send your name and mailing address to filmjunk@gmail.com with "The Way Back Giveaway" in the subject line. We'll randomly pick a winner from all the entries we receive and notify them by next Tuesday (Apr. 26th).

Note: This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.

Extras include:

Behind-the-Scene Featurette

Trailer

Good luck!
FOR MORE DAILY MOVIE GOODNESS, VISIT FILMJUNK.COM!

Ever since it was first announced that Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) would be directing a loose remake of The Coen Brothers' Blood Simple, I've been pretty curious to see what such a movie might look like. The bizarre trailers for the film only made it more clear that this would not be a particularly traditional or straightforward remake. Well, after getting a limited theatrical release here in North America last year, A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop is finally hitting DVD and Blu-ray next week. Sony Pictures Classics will release it on Tuesday Feb. 1st, and we've got a copy of the DVD to give away to one lucky Film Junkie!

To enter, just send your name and mailing address to filmjunk@gmail.com with "Noodle Shop Giveaway" in the subject line. We'll randomly pick a winner from all the entries we receive and notify them by next Friday (Feb. 4th).

Extras include:

A 19-part behind-the-scenes documentary

As you may have noticed, the Film Junk Podcast is close to hitting another milestone this month, as we are just two episodes away from episode 300. You know, it's funny, it seems like just last year we were hitting #250. Okay, yeah I know... we do about 50 episodes a year, which means we always tend to hit a nice round number every December. But this seemed like it was worth celebrating anyway. (I can promise you we won't be doing anything special for #350.) So here's the deal: we are not doing another full blown clip show. For the most part, it will be a regular show with the addition of some special guests, but we're also asking you guys to participate in episode 300 in a couple of ways:

1. Submit an audio remix of clips and moments from previous Film Junk episodes -- the more creative the better. Our favourite will receive a $50 Amazon gift card as a grand prize, but there will also be a handful of runner-ups who take home some Film Junk goodies for their efforts. Only one remix allowed per person, but it can be one you've sent in before.

2. Submit an audio voice mail discussing either a favourite memory of Film Junk, or a moment where you really disagreed with us and wanted to smash your iPod against a wall. Short and sweet is the preferred direction, but again, if you get creative with it, there may be a better chance of it getting played on the show.

Send all your submissions to filmjunk@gmail.com in MP3 format, and include "Episode 300" somewhere in the subject line.

And that's it! Right now we are planning to record episode 300 a day or two after Christmas, so you have until then to work your magic. Can't wait to hear what you guys come up with!
FOR MORE DAILY MOVIE GOODNESS, VISIT FILMJUNK.COM!

Bansky's intriguing pseudo-documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop hit stores in Canada this week, but if you live in the U.S., you'll have to wait just a little bit longer. Oscilloscope Laboratories is releasing it on DVD on December 14th, but the extra care put into their version definitely seems like it will be worth the wait. If you want to get a head start on it, check out this cool giveaway that we're hosting below. Hit the jump for the full details...

Exit Through the Gift Shop available now on iTunes and VOD!
Become a fan on Facebook at http://on.fb.me/ExitThroughTheGiftShopContest.
Buy on iTunes at http://bit.ly/BanksyiTunes.

This is the inside story of Street Art - a brutal and revealing account of what happens when fame, money and vandalism collide. Exit Through the Gift Shop follows an eccentric shop-keeper turned amateur film-maker as he attempts to capture many of the world's most infamous vandals on camera, only to have a British stencil artist named Banksy turn the camcorder back on its owner with wildly unexpected results.

One of the most provocative films about art ever made, Exit Through the Gift Shop is a fascinating study of low-level criminality, comradeship and incompetence. By turns shocking, hilarious and absurd, this is an enthralling modern-day fairytale... with bolt cutters.

It's been a while since we've done a giveaway on the site, but this week the good folks at Oscilloscope Laboratories have provided us with two copies of an acclaimed Irish film called Kisses. I haven't seen it, but based on the quality of their other releases I can only assume that this is definitely worth checking out. The film is directed by Lance Daly and the basic plot synopsis is as follows: "Two kids, Dylan and Kylie, run away from home at Christmas and spend a night of magic and terror on the streets of inner-city Dublin."

To enter, just send your name and mailing address to filmjunk@gmail.com with "Kisses Giveaway" in the subject line. We’ll randomly pick the winners from all the entries we receive and notify them by next Tuesday (Nov. 2nd).

Extras include:

Audio commentary with the candy-chomping, cheeky stars, Kelly O'Neill and Shane Curry

Bawdy outtakes with the cast and crew

Making Kisses - a behind the scenes look

To enter, just send your name and mailing address to filmjunk@gmail.com with "Kisses Giveaway" in the subject line. We’ll randomly pick the winners from all the entries we receive and notify them by next Tuesday (Nov. 2nd).

Extras include:

Audio commentary with the candy-chomping, cheeky stars, Kelly O'Neill and Shane Curry

Bawdy outtakes with the cast and crew

Making Kisses - a behind the scenes look

John Hillcoat's adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road was one of our favourite movies of last year, but unfortunately not many people got a chance to see it since it received a pretty pitiful theatrical release. The movie is about a father (Viggo Mortensen) and son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) struggling to survive in a savage post-apocalyptic world. The good news is, it will finally hit DVD and Blu-ray next Tuesday, May 25th, and we've got one copy of the DVD to give away right here on Film Junk.

To enter, just send your name and mailing address to filmjunk@gmail.com with "The Road Giveaway" in the subject line. We’ll randomly pick a winner from all the entries we receive and notify them by next Thursday (May 27th).

Note: This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.

Extras include:

Heath Ledger's final film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus opened back in December to little fanfare, and never did end up getting a wide theatrical release. Fortunately, the movie finally arrives on DVD and Blu-ray this week, and guess what... we've got one DVD copy to give away right here on Film Junk!

Lone Scherfig's Oscar-nominated film An Education hits DVD and Blu-ray this week, and if you happened to miss it in theatres this is a great chance to catch up on one of the best movies of 2009. At the very least, you can see why everyone's making such a fuss over Carey Mulligan. As luck would have it, we've got a copy of the DVD to give away to one lucky Film Junkie!
