Christopher Guest’s Family Tree Teaser Trailer

With the second season of HBO’s Veep set to return in April, it looks like they’ll have another solid half-hour comedy to pair it with in Christopher Guest’s Family Tree. The upcoming series marks Guest’s return to the mockumentary format and he is bringing many of his regular collaborators along for the ride including Michael McKean, Fred Willard, Bob Balaban and Ed Begley, Jr. The show centers on a slightly younger chap, however: The I.T. Crowd star Chris O’Dowd, perhaps better known at this point for appearances in Bridesmaids and Girls.
O’Dowd plays Tom Chadwick, a 30-year-old guy who becomes curious about his family heritage after being dumped by his girlfriend and sets out to uncover his roots. A teaser trailer has been released online this week, and although it’s fairly short, it’s enough to make us feel like we’re revisiting old friends. Family Tree is expected to premiere sometime in May; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

This looks promising. I really like Chris O’Dowd so I’ll definitely be checking this out.

One problem towards the end of his last set of movies was that he had so many collaborators to cram in that few of them ever ended up well defined. With some more time in a series it could really be something. Maybe this could fill the role in the US that the Chris Lilley shows do in Australia.
