Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Trailer

I know sometimes it seems like we’re a little biased against family-friendly animated movies around these parts, and the truth is, we do tend to dismiss many of them as being generic. However, I will admit that sometimes we miss out on something halfway decent as a result, and I think that was the case with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I caught up with the movie a year or so after it hit theatres and thought it was clever, funny and visually exciting. Now that the first trailer has arrived online for the sequel, I am definitely more receptive… but can they repeat the success of the first with a brand new creative team?
Phil Lord and Chris Miller chose not to return for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, moving on to 21 Jump Street and the upcoming Lego movie instead. In their place, Sony has hired Cody Cameron (Open Season 3) and Kris Pearn to direct from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Horrible Bosses). Still, the good news is that most of the voice cast is returning (including Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg and James Caan) with the exception of Mr. T, who has been replaced by Terry Crews. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 hits theatres on Sept. 27th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

The director change doesn’t exactly excite me, but if they can keep the same sense of humour I think this could be a really fun adventure movie.
I know Greg really liked the first one, is he looking forward to this?
Posted by Peter on February 28th, 2013The first flick was great and my little man loved it. This looks like it will be a good follow up.

Posted by Greg on February 28th, 2013I’m okay if this movie is just 80 minutes of food puns.
Posted by Jonny Ashley on March 1st, 2013One of the best animated films of recent years. One that really embraced its cartoony roots. The trailer looks great. Just hope they don’t go overboard with the food puns (Leek in the boat, piece of cake).
