Brad Anderson’s The Call Trailer Starring Halle Berry

On the topic of WWE Studios (see: previous post on Dead Man Down), it turns out that they are actually involved in another movie that is coming to theatres next month as well. The Call is a thriller previously known as The Hive that was moved up from a late summer release slot after the Carrie remake was delayed. Halle Berry plays a 911 operator who receives an emergency call from a kidnapped girl (Abigail Breslin) and gets pulled into the situation upon realizing that she knows the kidnapper.
I have to admit, the trailer looks pretty generic but apparently early test screenings were strong which is why Sony decided to give it a wide release. I guess that doesn’t necessarily mean the movie is actually good, however, the movie also happens to be directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist, Transsiberian) which has me moderately curious. Unfortunately, his last movie Vanishing on 7th Street was also a real stinker. The Call hits theatres on March 15th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

that part where she is peering through the crack in the door and it pans to the killer slackjawed.. this looks like something teenagers will like in the theater. jump scares and loud noises. did you ever see happy accidents? i really enjoyed it. obviously a different genre than this or session 9.
Posted by mattressman on February 21st, 2013Saw this at the cinema a couple of days ago and when it was over I felt I’ve just seen the entire movie. And I agree it’s generic.
However, I did not know Brad Anderson is behind it. Both The Machinist and Session 9 are excellent. I didn’t see his latest one, though.
Posted by Lior on February 21st, 2013I really really liked Transsiberian, but I haven’t seen that latest one either.
Likely wouldn’t go see this in the theater, anyway.
