NBC’s Hannibal Trailer Starring Mads Mikkelsen

There are at least a handful of TV shows coming later this year that are based on well-known movies (A&E’s upcoming series Bates Motel being one of them) and this week NBC is giving us the first taste of their own series based on an iconic serial killer. Hannibal stars Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Valhalla Rising) as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, making him the fourth actor to play the character on screen. Hugh Dancy plays the FBI criminal profiler who is assigned to help bring him in, while Laurence Fishburne plays his boss.

The first trailer is pretty short and doesn’t offer more than a short glimpse of Lecter himself. Still, based on the continued popularity of police procedurals on network TV, I’m sure this could do quite well for NBC. The show is headed up by Bryan Fuller (Dead Like Me, Pushing Daises) and the pilot was directed by David Slade (30 Days of Night, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse). Hannibal premieres on Thurs. April 4th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  3. Looks good, I’ll watch it for Mikkelsen. Dude’s incredible. Y’all at Film Junk should check out The Hunt, by the way.

  4. and NBC takes a stab at Dexter…but how could a basic network ever do Dexter? What’s next a Girls ripoff on CBS tied into the NCIX brand?
