Greg does a pretty good Arnold.

  • Film Ape

Nice, The Ramblin Ambassadors are choice.

  • MrHorse

..that is so true, i too hate fight dancing. hahaa

your podcasts are getting so good, like i enjoyed this one so much.. oh man. i laughed like crazy.. some joyful, some loud, almost fell off the freaking chair

    Great Podcast

  • Goon

This is condescending as hell, but I genuinely feel bad for people who can’t appreciate movie musicals.

  • rjdelight

Regarding Arnold’s past in Last Stand, they do mention that he worked narcotics in LA and survived some raid-gone-bad where some of his fellow officers and friends were killed.

  • milandob

100% agree with the hmv over pricing the blu rays, i stopped checking dvd prices long ago, and i went there so many times just to browse what i would buy somewhere else and cheaper… The same can be said about blockbuster as well, the blu ray prizes there are joke!

  • http://boxcarpodcast.com Steve

It amazes me that junk mails have this tradition switching the first letter in names, yet no one has called Sean “Dawn Shire.” Come on people.

Regarding overpriced in-store blu-rays, I actually don’t mind paying one or two dollars over the Amazon price because it means I can make sure there’s nothing wrong with it before I take it home. I’ve had to do so many Amazon returns because something will be torn, cracked, wrinkled, crushed, etc. You can’t beat the prices but it’s gotten to the point where I don’t even bother exchanging some of them.

  • rjdelight

Wouldn’t Sean be Dean Swyer. Which come to think of it, isn’t that bad. Sounds like the lead character in a series of private detective novels.

  • Jay C.

The Terminator 3 scene I was talking about (in which they reveal who the Terminator was designed after) was actually a deleted scene. I can’t imagine why they cut it.

    ^ bloody briliant, gov’nah!

that’s a full star right there

  • http://www.twitter.com/auraldissonance milath

    What the fuck? O_o

If you didn’t say it was a deleted scene I would’ve thought it was some sort of out-take joke reel. At least someone had the good sense to pull it. That accent.. wow.. just wow…

  • Essie

The Master has the worst trailer cred of all time.

  • Lori C

[accidentally posted this under Ep. 394]

Jay, know you want the blu ray, but why not just purchase “The Imposter” digital download so you’re not paying import fees?

Listed on Amazon (US) and iTunes also.

  • IchigoNL

You guys should watch A Bittersweet Life. Probably my favourite Kim Ji-Woon film.

Still no sign of the annual gamejunk podcast. It’s becoming worse than cantankerous in terms of frequency.

Couldn’t you have monthly casts with Andrew and a combination of other friends in the industry and / or members of the row three casts, who seem very interested in games.

Their highnesses Sean and Frank can still deign to appear on a a cast once a year.

  • http://www.seandwyer.net Sean

It’s definitely possible that Andrew and Frank could just continue to do Game Junk without me. I don’t really have time to play games at the moment and I am mostly the one holding it back.

  • Henrik

Thx for linking to that awesome Arnold Schwarzenegger scene Jay, I had not seen it. It’s good.

  • FDB

I gotta -politely- disagree with the HMV pricing complaints. In the past while they’ve gotten SIGNIFICANTLY better with their prices, to the point that some things are actually cheaper at HMV than on Amazon. To name a few from my recent buys: Greenberg is significantly cheaper at HMV than Amazon (15.99 vs 23.99), and the Vengeance trilogy was, but isn’t any longer. Most other things are pretty comparable, being only like a buck or so less on Amazon. The Amazon deals store is actually way cheaper though, if you can sift through all the garbage AND the stuff you want doesn’t “usually ship in 1 to 2 months”.

The female deputy in The Last Stand was played by Jaimie Alexanader. Her credits mostly consist of guest starring roles on TV shows, however her most recognizable film role would probably be as Sif in THOR (she’ll be returning in the sequel this summer).

  • Steve Kasan

Jay makes a great point regarding Arnold in The Last Stand. When I first saw it, just the fact Arnold was back took me away from noticing how awkward he was on screen with his delivery. And the constant head movements, not, looking back Arnold does need to brush up on his “acting”.

Yeah, Arnold is in no way a Daniel Day-Lewis. He’s not even on the same level as say Timothy Olyphant. But, it does help to be natural and comfortable when delivering lines.

However, the funniest lines delivered by Arnold were not some of the one-liners but his conversation with Forrest Whittaker.

“Why the FAAAAAKKKK (pause) didn’t you tell me it was him!?!
    Sahn-ovvv-ahh-beeech”

    only Arnold

  • Gerry

Re gamejunk, I think you could still be part of the podcast without currently playing games Sean.

You’d have views re junkmail and you contribute to the ‘what we watched’ discussion on filmjunk re films other people watched.

Plus Frank and Andrew play retro games, which you may well have played and have opinions on.

  • OllieM

I hope I don’t come across as an asshole, I really love the show, but your recent talk about pirating movies and music has really bothered me.
I understand that with the availability of pretty much everything nowadays on the internet everyone is free to decide for themselves if they are going to download media for free. However, as one of the most popular film podcasts out there I think your influence on people’s opinions is probably stronger than you think. I’m sure a lot of people highly respect not only your opinions but also your attitudes. Piracy at the end of the day is consuming a product without paying the people who made it. I may be alone on this but I think that if you are going to pirate material you should at least respect the people who worked on the product by keeping quiet about how you obtained it.

  • http://www.seandwyer.net Sean

I don’t disagree with you. But just to be devil’s advocate, we also promote buying and collecting Blu-rays quite a bit.

  • Steve Kasan

Is there any Sunrise stores left in your areas? Hamilton, St. Catharines, Sauga?

Out of all the retailers left, I find that Sunrise is the best when it comes to prices and finding obscure titles which most places will not carry. This is the case when it comes to Criterion titles.

Based on the trailer alone, I wanted to believe that “Perks of Being a Wallflower” was a movie about a kid that gets in over his head when he becomes involved in the dangerous underground world of competitive vehicular arm-raising after falling in love with a girl that’s heavy into the scene. Also, hilarious gay friend.

  • Bob

Film Junk is promoting pirating? I’m pretty sure Frank and Jay alone are keeping the business of physical media alive. Not to mention all four of the guys are visiting a theater at least once a week.

I don’t condone pirating, but I also think the pricing and restrictions put in place by the movie industry are INSANE and only punish those who want to pay.
