Danny Boyle’s Trance Trailer

After taking a break from movies for a few years to direct a stage adaptation of Frankenstein and the 2012 Summer Olympics, Danny Boyle returns to the big screen this year with Trance. The movie is a remake of a 2001 British made-for-TV movie by Joe Ahearne, who co-wrote the feature film screenplay with long-time Danny Boyle collaborator John Hodge (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave). It is a return to the crime genre for Boyle, although he is once again collaborating with cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle and it definitely shows.

James McAvoy stars as Simon, an art auctioneer who teams up with a gang of criminals to pull off a major heist. When Simon double-crosses them, however, he is knocked unconscious and loses his memory of where he stashed the goods. Rosario Dawson is the hypnotherapist who tries to help him remember while Vincent Cassel plays the gang’s leader. Trance hits theatres on March 27th in the U.K., although the North American release has yet to be determined. Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
