Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Josh Brolin Join Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

After his major roles in Christopher Nolan’s Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, it should come as no surprise that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in high demand in Hollywood right now. After being rumoured for both Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the upcoming Godzilla reboot, this week it has been confirmed that instead he has chosen to star in Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Dimension Films have issued a press release stating that JGL will play Johnny, a brand new character created just for the movie that does not exist in any of Frank Miller’s source material. In addition, it has also been revealed that Josh Brolin has signed on to play Dwight, the character portrayed by Clive Owen in the original. This is what Gordon-Levitt had to say about his attraction to the Sin City sequel:
“I love how the first movie uses VFX, not to make fake things look real, but to create a heightened world unburdened by the look and feel of reality. Plus, nobody makes a badass like Mr. Rodriguez.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character is described as “a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game.” Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Jaime King will reprise their roles from the previous films, while newcomers Dennis Haysbert and Jamie Chung will play Manute and Miho respectively. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits theatres on October 4th and Frank Miller co-wrote the screenplay and is expected to once again co-direct. Do you have high hopes for this sequel?

Oct 4th 2013 release date? Has shooting begun?
Posted by darksiders on January 9th, 2013I had read that production started in October. Maybe just the segments with the new actors haven’t been shot yet.
Posted by Sean on January 9th, 2013The character of Dwight is a weird one anyways, especially since the character is originally bald, and undergoes facial reconstruction surgery in A Dame to Kill For
Posted by Jonny Ashley on January 9th, 2013Dennis Haybert is an odd change from the late Michael Clarke Duncan, but hopefully he still has some acting chops left after all the monotonous Allstate commercials.
Posted by Zac on January 9th, 2013Awesome. Thought Clive Owen didn’t fit in the first one and Brolin has that hardboiled look down.
Posted by T. Heilman on January 10th, 2013Why does it say that Clive Owen is playing Dwight?
