New to Theatres This Weekend: Jack Reacher, This is 40, The Guilt Trip

With the holidays just around the corner, it’s time to prepare for a major influx of movies hitting multiplexes everywhere. This weekend it’s a battle between Jack Reacher starring Tom Cruise, Disney’s Monsters, Inc. 3D re-release and a pair of comedies: Judd Apatow’s This is 40 and The Guilt Trip starring Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand. Tom Cruise is still expected to bring it home for Paramount, especially after the success of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol last year… but hey, you never know. We’ve also got a flood of awards contenders in limited release including tsunami flick The Impossible, Michael Haneke’s Amour, and Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, which unfortunately isn’t going wide until January. What will you be watching this weekend? What’s on your must-see list before the end of 2012?
- Jack Reacher
- This is 40
- The Guilt Trip
- Monsters, Inc. 3D
- Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Away (semi-wide)
- The Impossible (limited)
- Zero Dark Thirty (limited)
- Not Fade Away (limited)
- On the Road (limited)
- Amour (limited)
