Justice League Villain Possibly Out of the Bag

Perhaps one of the biggest challenges surrounding The Avengers movie was finding an interesting villain that would actually be a match for Earth’s mightiest heroes. Marvel and Joss Whedon came up with a decent solution by bringing back Tom Hiddleston as Loki, leading an alien force known as the Chitauri. The Avengers 2 will obviously lead to an even bigger match-up, most likely between The Avengers and Thanos, a god-like alien being who wields the Infinity Gauntlet. But what about a Justice League movie? Considering how powerful some of the DC characters are, it seems like they will need to up the ante even more if they want to give the Justice League a run for their money. Appropriately, this week it is being reported that they will be jumping straight to one of the most powerful DC villains of all time: Darkseid.

The scoop comes courtesy of Latino Review, who don’t have much additional information to offer, but seem pretty confident in their source. I suppose isn’t all that surprising to hear and it does make a lot of sense. It’s a character that fans have wanted to see on the big screen for some time now and he would be a formidable opponent. But in going with Darkseid so soon, could Warner Brothers be limiting their options for future films?

Darkseid is essentially a god with superhuman strength and the ability to project energy from his eyes that can manipulate matter or erase it from existence. He has bested Superman in physical combat, which is probably the most important requirement for a Justice League villain, because let’s face it… if Superman can just beat the villain on his own, there’s no point in bringing in any other heroes to help. Personally I was just hoping for the Legion of Doom. What do you think, is Darkseid a good choice for a villain? Does this make you more or less excited for the Justice League movie?

    I want Braniac.

WB really wants to shoot their load without any foreplay. Going straight for Darkseid reeks of trying to match Thanos in The Avengers 2. I sincerely hope they can get a great director to helm this.

They should cross these movies over.

I think it would seem more like an Avengers rip off, starting with Darksied….Darksied has a large army as well (just like Loki did). They should start with Doomsday. Starting a movie like The Justice League…. I think it would be wiser to start with mainly 1 hardcore villain. As brutal and difficult as it was for the Doomsday to be physically defeated, I’m sure that it would be a cool start. The JL was involved, throughout that Superman/Doomsday series, but it wouldn’t have to be exactly the same…. they could change some of the characters around, and give them there own time to shine on screen.
