First Clip from The Host 2

Back before Stephenie Meyer’s young adult novel existed, The Host was simply known as a kick-ass Korean monster movie from director Bong Joon-ho. We had been hearing about the possibility of a U.S. remake for years now, but it has yet to materialize; instead, we are about to get an official sequel with almost twice the budget. Unfortunately Bong Joon-ho is not directing (he is busy with his English language debut Snowpiercer), instead it is supposedly being handled by commercial director Park Myeong-chan.
The first footage from the sequel has arrived online this week, taking the form of an intense two-minute clip with a monster attacking a van full of kids. It’s more than a little reminiscent of Jurassic Park, and the CGI is pretty damn impressive. The clip is also followed by an interesting before/after VFX comparison. No word yet on a release date, but this definitely looks promising. Check out the clip after the jump and let us know what you think.
