Film Junk Poll: What is the Best Joseph Gordon-Levitt Movie?

With Looper hitting theatres this weekend, it seems like an appropriate time to take a look at the films of Mr. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Once known only for playing an alien on 3rd Rock from the Sun, I think it’s safe to say that JGL has stepped out from the shadow of his previous work to establish himself as a versatile and capable actor. He slowly built up a resume of interesting independent films over the past decade before eventually making the jump to more mainstream projects including prominent roles in Christopher Nolan’s last two movies. While his filmography is certainly not without blemishes (ahem, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra), at 31 years old he has already turned in quite a few noteworthy performances and I’m guessing there will be plenty more to come. So what would you say is his best film to date? Cast your vote in this week’s poll and then sound off in the comments below.

Great poll Sean. Man, really tough to decide. Which is a good problem! JGL has a solid resume of quality films. I love him in Brick and Mysterious Skin. He displays great range in 500 Days of Summer and 50/50. Stepped into the blockbuster spotlight in Inception and The Dark Knight Rises. For me personally I think 500 Days of Summer displays his greatest acting role to date, however I’m going with Brick as my vote. Brick it is.

Where is ANGELS IN THE OUTFIELD??
When he was hosting SNL last weekend, my mother referred to him as the “little boy from Angels in the Outfield”
Posted by CrumbThumber on September 25th, 2012I voted for Brick, but hands down, HesheR is his best performance.
Posted by Adam on September 25th, 2012Best movie: Dark knight Rises

No love for Premium Rush?
Posted by Flo Lieb on September 25th, 2012JGL is at that right age to really take off. He’s 31, he’s not like Jeremy Renner who was 38 when he was in Hurt Locker, and is verifiably a late bloomer. He has his peak years ahead of him. As long as he keeps picking good roles, challenging himself with a mix of blockbusters and more heady fare, the sky is the limit I think. Plus, he’s already in good with Nolan, and that cannot hurt at all. Even if he doesn’t become the new Batman or Robin or whoever, Nolan will surely have him at the top of his short list. He can certainly follow the path of Christian Bale who similarly started out as a child actor who has become one of top A-list actors in the world now.
