Neighborhood Watch Trailer Starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill

I’ve been pretty curious about the upcoming comedy Neighborhood Watch ever since I first heard the premise: a group of suburban dads form a neighborhood watch group as an excuse to spend time away from their families, only to discover that aliens have invaded their town. It sounds a little bit like an American version of Attack the Block, and with a cast that includes Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Richard Ayoade, what’s not to like? Unfortunately the first teaser trailer is exactly that — a big tease, and nothing more.

It plays out almost like a parody music video with the main characters rolling through their neighborhood in a car just looking cool, but there is not a single mention of aliens anywhere. If you didn’t know the plot, you would probably have no idea that it was a sci-fi movie at all. Based on this teaser, though, I’m not surprised to learn that the movie is directed by Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer; I know some people think that Hot Rod is an underrated classic, but I am not one of those people. Neighborhood Watch hits theatres on July 27th; check out the teaser trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  1. I think its gonna be great, I loved Hot Rod and I think that with this teaser there just trying to keep the plot under wraps so people will be suprised (even though its obviously all over the internet). The script was also written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg which is a big plus.

  2. I am happy to be a ’some people’.

  3. This looks fun. I didn’t like Hot Rod but I’ve liked a lot of The Lonely Islands other stuff, and this is a script by Seth Rogen – solid!

  4. Looking foward to this flick for sure, Vaughn, Stiller and Hill, great team!

  5. I think they are playing a bait and switch trying to get people to see the movie as hangover style comedy.

Perhaps they are afraid a comedy movie with aliens will seem too juvenile for some viewers.

  6. Just watched “Made” yesterday. I can’t get enough of Vince Vaughn, that guy is awesome. Looks good.

  7. I think that actually looks funny! Hope it is!

  8. Richard Ayoade is in it!!!! he is a national treasure to us Brits, He also directed ‘Submarine’- which was one of the highlights of last year for me, i hope he is utilized and not overshadowed by the other guys.

  9. well, just judging the tease – it looks terrible….so they failed there
