Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Trailer

Seth Grahame-Smith may have created a monster a few years ago when he kickstarted the literary genre mash-up craze with his novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The book was a big hit and inspired a ton of copycat projects, in addition to sparking a Hollywood bidding war for the movie rights. Although the film adaptation is currently sitting in development hell after going through three different directors, his follow-up book is about to hit the big screen this summer. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter re-imagines Honest Abe as a president who kills supernatural beings in his off time, and the first teaser trailer has just hit the web this week.
At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly inspired about the trailer; we just see a guy with a top hat and cape wielding an axe in slow-mo. Everything also looks very digital, which is a little disappointing considering the period setting, but maybe not a huge surprise considering that it is directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted). The movie stars Benjamin Walker in the lead role (originally courted to play Beast in X-Men: First Class), along with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Alan Tudyk, Anthony Mackie, and Rufus Sewell. What do you think, will this be one of the summer’s biggest hits or a lazy b-movie that panders to genre fans? Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter hits theatres on June 22nd; check out the trailer after the jump.

Just what I’ve always wanted… Abe Lincoln speed ramped!
Who is opening the book for the final tally of speed ramping?
There were at least four in this trailer alone.
Posted by Billy Mac on February 13th, 2012Doesn’t look like much, also I don’t think that guy was beats in X-Men first class.
Posted by The Hoge on February 13th, 2012Or beast for that matter.
Posted by The Hoge on February 13th, 2012Looks like crap. Definitely not interested.
Posted by Vikke_AJ on February 13th, 2012Wasn’t expecting the big scale action sequences at all. The promo images gave a more secluded/intimate vibe. But I can see myself watching this.
Posted by Napalm on February 13th, 2012Fixed the note about him playing Beast. Thanks for the correction.

Posted by Steve on February 13th, 2012Party Down fans can I get a holler?
Johnny Cash can improve anything really. That said, I actually think it looks like a fun ride. I like how the tree flew up in the air when he hit it horizontally.
Posted by patrik on February 13th, 2012last thing I want for my next D.D.lewis experience is too have the 13yrold next to me making a bad vampire impression or something.
Posted by kyri on February 13th, 2012I hope that bombs.
..If it does well it might harm that DDlewis film coming next.
That make real sense, to hope a movie is bad and it bombs. As a movie nerd you should hope for a good movie every time out.

I doubt many 13 year old kids are gonna watch the one with DDL anyway so you’re probably safe.
Posted by patrik on February 14th, 2012This trailer looks shit and totally uninspired, but what do you expect from the director of wanted and those awful night watch movies. But I must admitt that last shot with the ax was pretty sweet.
