You guys only have to go as far south as Ohio to find a Golden Corral. I live about 25 minutes north of Cincinnati and there’s one 2 minutes from me.
Posted by Dave on January 17th, 2012I always enjoy the movie discussions but I’m also finding that Jay’s medical conditions are also an invaluable part of the podcast. Last November, I sneezed on a plane while touching down in Tampa and my head, eyes, sinuses and cheeks erupted in a fury of burning, stabbing pain. I had never experienced anything like it before and was really worried that something was seriously wrong. I never looked into it myself so I feel better having heard about Jay’s diagnosis.
Posted by Nuno on January 17th, 2012Rainn Wilson would obviously be Tackleberry.
Posted by patrik on January 17th, 2012Golden Corral is a national chain. They are all over the U.S. or at least there is one where I live (pacific northwest area).
Posted by Matt on January 17th, 2012goldencorral.com has a good franchise locator. They have some relatively near the Ontario border near Detroit and Erie as well.
Posted by Mason on January 17th, 2012Congrats to Jay and Beauty Day for the Genie Nomination

Posted by Goon on January 17th, 2012Nice Jay congrats on nomination! Also, love the long episodes, almost 3hrs for this one, keep em coming.
Posted by Curtis Williams on January 17th, 2012I actually thought Colin Firth and Mark Strong were gay for each other right away.
Posted by Gil on January 17th, 2012Grats on the nomination Jay and a really great show from you guys this week.
Also, when is Ball Junk going to be ready? Superbowl is coming up and it’d be an interesting subject to hear you guys cover – especially since american football is the only sport out of the four big ones in North America that I actually follow.
Posted by Kasper on January 17th, 2012Gil: I think they were too. Firth’s character was bi.
Posted by Napalm on January 17th, 2012- Yeah, I read Children of Men for school. It was good, but takes a different angle. It is more centered around an oppressive government and mass depression, where the movie, I think, takes more of a view on the recent terrorism threats. Like i said – book was good, movie was great.
-Another deterrent for organizing mini-series. What about Downton Abbey? It is a mini-series, but on its second season. Where do you put season 2? I think anything that airs over two nights (like the IT movie) then it goes with the TV shows.
Posted by Aaron on January 17th, 2012Ball Junk will happen, Kasper. We need the right piece of recording equipment to get this going as we’re recording Ball Junk at Site B.
Posted by Greg on January 17th, 2012What happened to Frank’s baby voices? You get one harsh comment and – BAM! – they’re gone for good.
Speaking of Franklin…Who has a worse case of OCD, Frank or Wes Anderson?
Posted by Spongebob Scaredpants on January 17th, 2012Site B huh.. Isla Franka?
Moonrise Kingdom trailer was hilarious imo.
Posted by patrik on January 18th, 2012Sean, the Tinker Tailor TV series is excellent, oustanding. The only downer is that those idiots at the BBC missed a marketing opportunity, i.e. to release it on blu ray to coincide with the film. It’s definately a buy.
It’s follow up series Smiley’s People was dull and lacklustre, though I’m sure the 3 junkers who loved the film will think it a work of genius.
I agree that The Russia House was mediocre and that The Spy Who Came In From the Cold was excellent, especially when it moved to East Germany. Again definately a buy if it makes it to blu ray.
What about Food Junk Greg?
Posted by Gerry on January 18th, 2012I forgot to mention of of the biggest flaws in the Tinker Tailor film which wasn’t in the TV series or book, i.e. – MAJOR SPOILER – Jim Prideaux / Mark Strong acknowleged that he suspected that the mole was who he was before he went on his mission and told the mole about the mission beforehand, therefore setting himself and his agents up.
He therefore was responsible for the death of all his agents as much as the mole was and should have killed himself. Instead he absolves himself and kills the mole in a fit of denial.
Maybe the adapting writers included this as they experienced this in their own lives, i.e. turning a blind eye to a lovers faults, but it was portrayed in an unfeasibly major scale in the film.
The only intelligent bit of adaptation from the book was when Smiley reminisced about his meeting with Karla.
Posted by Gerry on January 18th, 2012Thanks for the update Greg. You’re a peach!
Posted by Kasper on January 18th, 2012Balljunk sounds like a mens health podcast or a gay porn podcast.
Posted by Gerry on January 18th, 2012If Greg and Frank can mix the sports talk with some gay porn that’d be swell.
Posted by Kasper on January 18th, 2012Hey guys, long time listener, blah blah. I know a while ago you did try and provide some summary’s of a films plot, but any chance you can go back to that? Not only do I have no idea what Young Adults is about beyond someone having a meltdown, I’m not sure even what genre it is – which was a bit like with the Polanski “comedy” the other week.
Anyways, keep up the work

Posted by BarBar on January 18th, 2012My fault, I keep forgetting to read the synopsis beforehand. I just need to get in the habit of doing it on a regular basis.
Posted by Sean on January 18th, 2012May just be me but itunes refused to download this weeks episode and the one I grabbed from the site cuts short at 2h 33, in the junk mail sci fi book part.
Posted by Steven S on January 20th, 2012Did you just download it today? Usually that is more frequent if you try downloading it within the first 24 hours of it being posted because there are a lot of people downloading at once. But I just tried downloading the episode now and it was all there.
Posted by Sean on January 20th, 2012Thanks for that, I still can’t grab it from iTunes but now have the full version from you guys direct.
Posted by Steven S on January 20th, 2012FYI, Social Network was #2 on his 2010 list. There’s that.
