The Scorpion King 3 Trailer Starring Billy Zane and Ron Perlman

It seems insane that The Mummy franchise has spawned six movies over the past decade, and yet, here we are. The IMDb Trivia section for The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption points out that it is “a sequel to a prequel to a prequel of a sequel of a remake” so at least it has that going for it. You may recall that the Scorpion King (first played by Dwayne Johnson) was a villain in The Mummy Returns who made a deal with Anubis, god of the underworld, to be his eternal servant in exchange for revenge. The Rock became a good guy when he reprised his role in the first Scorpion King spin-off, and was then replaced with Michael Copon (Power Rangers: Time Force) for part 2. Now the same character will be played by Victor Webster (Castle).

The Scorpion King 3 supposedly takes place between The Scorpion King 1 and 2, but to be honest, I’m not sure how anyone can make sense of the story at this point. All that really matters is that they decided to put together an MMA fighter, a wrestler, and some veteran actors to crank out a low budget action flick. This installment stars Ron Perlman, Billy Zane, Dave Bautista, Kimbo Slice and Jango Fett himself, Temuera Morrison. Director Roel Reiné is the same guy that did the DTV sequels Death Race 2 and The Marine 2… what else do you need to know? The Scorpion King 3 hits DVD and Blu-ray on January 17th, 2012; check out the trailer after the jump.

  1. HAHAHAHAHA!

  2. Kimbo Slice?? Dave Bautista???
    I am pre-ordering this shit!!!

  3. Zane vs. Perlman!

  4. Clash of the D-Listers

  5. I can’t believe that they even gave this a green light let alone put it into production. Off topic, the Poster makes Perlman look like a combination of Harry from “Harry and the Henderson’s,” and Vigo from “Ghostbusters 2.”

  6. Poor Billy Zane.

  7. It doesn’t get any better than this!

  8. lol, kimbo slice.. the fighting chicks might be hot though so I will watch this when its on showcase or something next year

  9. It’s so weird that Ron Perlman can be in this, then do something critically acclaimed like Drive.

  10. Perlman gots to eat.
Does Billy Zane even care anymore?

  11. perlman looks like he just got accused of ripping a fart in church

  12. There was a Scorpion King 2? Wow.

  13. I was excited when I thought, “Oh man, they got Kamala for this?” Then I realized, no, it was Kimbo

  14. Quite honesty, the fact that Roel Reiné is directing, Dwayne Johnson is not reprising the role, the film is placed between 1 and 2 (seriously?), and is a “straight-to-disc” project makes me want to give it two thumbs down already. What may be it’s one redeeming quality is Selina Lo. My guess is she’ll be the biggest reason for sales.
