Spy Kids: All the Time in the World Trailer Starring Jessica Alba and Jeremy Piven

Continuing his trend of alternating between R-rated action flicks and goofy comedies for kids, this summer Robert Rodriguez is following up Machete with his fourth installment in the Spy Kids series, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World. The franchise has been surprisingly successful up until now (the last one made almost $200 million worldwide on a $38 million budget), and it’s pretty crazy to think that the first Spy Kids film came out over a decade ago. For proof of that fact, just take a look at the appearance of original kids Daryl Sabara and Alexa Vega in this trailer as veteran spies who are all grown up now.
The idea this time around is to reboot the franchise and pass the torch on to a new family of spies. Jessica Alba plays a retired spy / news reporter / mom while Joel McHale plays her clueless husband and Ricky Gervais voices their robotic dog. Instead of Sylvester Stallone, the diabolical villain is none other than Entourage star Jeremy Piven, and Danny Trejo apparently even makes a PG-rated appearance as Machete. Although these movies carry a certain amount of charm, I really think they could be great with just a little more effort behind them. As it is, I always feel a twinge of embarrassment for all those involved… but hey, I guess they’re all getting paid. Spy Kids: All the Time in the World hits theatres on August 19th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Didn’t much care for the third, but I really enjoyed the first two, so I’ll be seeing this one. Obviously they aren’t good movies, but they ARE fun movies, especially if you’ve got kids.
Posted by Slushie Man on May 31st, 2011@Sean Danny Trejo all ready made a PG-rated appearance as Machete in the first Spy Kids movie, I believe he was Antonio Bandera’s older brother.

It’s obvious that these films pay for his freedom to make things like Sin City and Planet Terror, so I say why not. And he does have 5 kids that not not only inspire his film making but were the creators of Shark Boy and Lava Girl. I’m just bummed that his sci fi movie fell through and that he was sent packing from the set of John Carter of Mars. He keeps getting rights to properties like Barbarella, Red Sonja, and Mad Man but can never seem to garner full support from producers. I would love to see him come back with a great project like Desperado or Sin City again.
Posted by djangoscud on June 1st, 2011Why is this news? Sorry for the negativity, but I mean it, why report about a children-film no one here cares about? I guess it’s just because it is Rodriguez?
Posted by Johnnyboy on June 1st, 2011Some people care about it.

Posted by Gil on June 2nd, 2011In 4-D? So, they’re going to rig every theater to be like a ride at Universal Studios?
Posted by Dave on June 2nd, 2011Ugh. Apparently Ricky Gervias is voicing the dog. WHY!!!
Posted by Napalm on June 2nd, 2011I thought the 4th Dimension was time, I would have assumed 3D in real time.

Would you stfu with that sentence of yours? Everytime there is a discussion that goes wrong for one of the parties, or someone criticizes something, ”troll” or ”haters” is being mentioned. The only one trolling here is you, not me. I usually don’t bother writing in these articles. The times i do, it is because i have something to say, unlike you.

And Johnnyboy, you did´t really have something to say other than criticizing Sean for posting this news story. If you truly don´t care, you wouldn´t post about it. It´s not like it takes something away from you or is ruining your day by having to simply scroll past a post you´re not interested in.
and that goes for everyone who criticize the hosts of Filmjunk, if you don´t care about a certain story, ignore it, don´t criticize the guy who posted it.
Posted by patrik on June 3rd, 2011The title doesn’t explain the rest of the 500 words of the articles, which I spend my time to read.
I use Filmjunk articles as a way of getting news from the filmworld, and I find it to be much better than most other sites precisely because it presents the types of news I care about. News about children films isn’t a usual Filmjunk phenomenon. I was therefore wondering why this somehow managed to get a big headline.
Posted by Johnnyboy on June 3rd, 2011@Johnnyboy You mean FilmJunk articles based on other sources which they cite at the top under their titles?
I hope that doesn’t sound belittling of what you guys do here, Sean.
I come here because the PEOPLE behind FilmJunk will give their interesting reviews; as for news, I think they select the most interesting/noteworthy news that every other movie-news sight posts. Hell, some of these posts you’ll find at other sites hours if not a full day before FilmJunk, primarily Sean, gets to write about and post. And I appreciate that very much, Sean. I fear the day your show and site might come to an end. You sort through endless amounts of pointless movie-news entries to find what needs to be shared with the FilmJunk community.
In short, keep the posts and twitter updates coming Sean.
