Enough of the condensed episodes already in the Junk Mail. It was somewhat amusing the first time but just grew tiresome with each subsequent version.
Posted by RC on May 23rd, 2011Good to hear Greg back. Frank, get well soon. T
Posted by Film Ape on May 23rd, 2011Many thanks for the show.
This has made my day.
Posted by Gil on May 23rd, 2011Nooo, I like the condensed episodes! But they need to be well made like the last 2 in the previous show.
Posted by kyri on May 24th, 2011Welcome back Greg!
(Quick everyone add him as a friend on fb!)
Fuck. I was gonna mail some shortened episodes. Next week maybe.
Posted by Napalm on May 24th, 2011I love the condensed episodes but they’re at their best when the edits are more full of nonsequitur type nonsense. Glad I got to hear Jay’s top 5 movie haircuts again though, that bit cracked me the hell up the first time I heard it.
Posted by TJ on May 24th, 2011If you guys keep making them, we’ll keep playing them… remixes, musical numbers, shortened episodes, whatever. We appreciate the effort.
Posted by Sean on May 24th, 2011TJ makes a good point. They are better when they are nonsequitur. So if you are going to make them, get creative.
I thought for sure Greg would say he would smash Reed Farrington in the face with Thor’s hammer.
Posted by RC on May 24th, 2011That was a “thanks bitch” for sure.
Posted by Sitrom on May 24th, 2011Most appropriate outro song ever…
NOW BACK TO THE GOOD PART!
Posted by Colin on May 24th, 2011Forget the Flintstones. Public is still clamoring for Grape Ape The Movie!
Posted by Gord on May 24th, 2011You guys definitely need to check out The Parallax View. An amazing film.
Posted by Chris on May 24th, 2011I also heard “Bitch”.
Posted by rjdelight on May 24th, 2011Sounded like “bitch” to me.
Posted by RC on May 24th, 2011This might be your most offensive podcast yet!
Well Done Gents
Posted by Gord on May 24th, 2011Missed Frank this week! Get well soon
Posted by Jonny Ashley on May 24th, 2011Sean’s tossing out quite a few zingers in this episode.
Posted by Nat Almirall on May 24th, 2011Sean definitely said “bitch”. Jus sayin.
Posted by Napalm on May 24th, 2011Red Heat is one of my favorite Arnold-movies. Surprised that it’s not regarded as one of his better actioncomedies. It even gets shown often enough on tv here.
Posted by Kasper on May 24th, 2011Jay’s African accent is awesome.
Posted by Kamen Liew on May 25th, 2011Good episode – thanks.
Sucked that Frank wasn’t there.
BEAUTY DAY – NEXT MONTH – YESSSSSSS.
Posted by Khan Farrington, HMV Manager on May 25th, 2011Sean had a good episode this week. Quite a lot of quick shots. He picked up the slack of Frank not being there.
Frank – Get well. We need you back next week.
To my fellow Film Junk fans – PLEASE no more creepy visits to Greg at work. I was scarred hearing about this – I can’t imagine how Greg felt.
Greg – Hang in there. It’s hard out there for a pimp …..
Posted by Lars Von Tired on May 25th, 2011About movies from the ’40s and ’50s — that was the heyday of film noir and the doomed anti-hero, probably my favorite type of genre flick. Double Indemnity, The Asphalt Jungle, Sunset Boulevard, Night Of the Hunter…just an absolute wealth of great stuff to sink your teeth into. Any of the Mitchum stuff is particularly great.
I’ll second The Parallax View and also suggest Marathon Man.
Posted by Sam on May 27th, 2011That reminds me…the film I was trying to think of during the 40’s/50’s question was Night of the Hunter. Definitely contains some pretty modern elements.
Posted by Jay C. on May 28th, 2011I think Yasujiro Ozu was pretty ahead of his time. I would recommend his “Three Family Comedies” pack from the Criterion Collection
Posted by Jonny Ashley on May 28th, 2011Sean, please stop saying “like”.
TIA
Posted by Greg on May 30th, 2011Good stuff on Carlito’s Way. One hilarious thing I read about this movie was in one of John Leguizamo’s books about his experiences in the film. About how fucked up on drugs he was on the set and how much of a bitch Penelope Ann Miller was. He got the wardrobe people to cut her dresses an inch smaller than she actually was. You can notice how skinny she was near the end of the film.
