Epic three and a half hour podcast! love it.
Posted by rjdelight on March 29th, 2011and thanks for reading my mail
Posted by Austin in Japan on March 29th, 2011“Sucker Punch makes Rocky 4 look like a silent movie”. Greg you are the man.
Posted by Film Ape on March 29th, 2011The Raccoons music – love it!
Posted by Liney on March 29th, 2011Epic
Posted by Gord on March 29th, 2011Crank 1 and 2 are basically the same film. Witch one is really “better” is highly debatable and it actually depends on which one you’ve seen first.
Posted by Faggymcbitchtits on March 29th, 2011I think Crank_1 is the better film. Crank 2 lacks new ideas and just repeats the recipe by taking everything to the extreme in a more pretentious way. The First Crank somehow kept a more realistic approach (in a way), it felt fresh and the jokes worked better. The only thing that I think is better in Crank two is the Ending.
I hope after bagging on Mr. Nobody, you can see what a true ‘pretensious mess’ looks like in the form of SuckerPunch!
Posted by Kurt on March 29th, 2011Liney,
The Raccoons theme is used over the end credits of Hobo with a Shotgun! When it first started playing it didn’t really click in my head until the chorus kicked in and then my face exploded.
Posted by Fatbologna on March 29th, 2011I didn’t get the Racoon’s reference (It’s been a while), but in hindsight, it is hilarious way to repurpose a song and a Canadian-in-Joke to boot.
Posted by Kurt on March 29th, 2011Can Jay’s next doc be about where Greg works.
Posted by rjdelight on March 29th, 2011For the record,
I like Deep Blue Sea, Waterworld and The Postman (Go Wil Patton!)
Did nobody see that Renny Harlin straight-to-DVD with Val Kilmer and the 10-little-indians type assassin mystery, MINDHUNTERS? Looks terrible.
Not seeing the love for Cliffhanger though.
Posted by Kurt on March 29th, 2011Damn, Sean was fired up for the Sucker Punch review. Been a while since I’ve heard that much venom coming from him. Good stuff.
I have not seen Paul, but I recently came to the conclusion after watch Death and the Maiden that Sigourney’s Weaver is a pretty terrible actress when she’s not Ripley. She was by far the worst thing about Maiden and I can’t recall seeing her being actually good in anything aside from Alien.
You people that own Criterion Blu-rays, do you just file them with the rest of your Blu-rays or in their own section? Packaging is kind of all over the place and I can’t decide how to file them.
Also for the record, I really like Waterworld, but I really dislike The Postman.
Posted by KeithTalent on March 29th, 2011I agree with Jay AND Sean in regards to Hobo with a Shotgun. I thoroughly enjoyed it but don’t really need to see any more of these type of films. I’m extremely excited to see where Tarantino takes us with his Spaghetti Western. That guy knows how to rock exploitation aesthetic with modern storytelling.
Posted by Fatbologna on March 29th, 2011Oh, also meant to back up Frank on the NY comedy thing. We went to Carolines the last time I was there and it was awesome. We did luck out because Gilbert Gottfried ended up performing, but still, the lead-up guys were awesome too. Looks like you guys just ended up at the wrong place; bunch of scam artists with Comedy Central placards drawing people in.
Posted by KeithTalent on March 29th, 2011Glad you guys hated Sucker Punch as much as I did. That movie was just brutal. It seriously makes me fear for Superman.
Does Canada not have $10 bills? haha
@keithtalent I actually keep all my criterion collection stuff (dvd & bluray) separate and organize them by spine number.
Posted by Justice on March 29th, 2011Really great episode, I was laughing quite a bit.
Greg, since you like Night Court so much, you might be interested to know that his son has a very successful podcast.

Everyone should check it out. My favorite episodes are 74 and 127. They’re the funniest dudes ever.
Posted by bard on March 29th, 2011I’m assuming this is the Back to the Future III clip that Jay was referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq5-6PkVGCg
Posted by Aaron on March 29th, 2011Oh damn, you guys teased with a Reed update/speculation then it fizzled out…I get “Making a Klingon body suit out of old restaurant buffet pudding skin” when you create the official filmjunk poll!
Posted by rus in chicago on March 29th, 2011Man a week off and you guys come out blazing. Maybe you should do it more often. Awesome Listen!
Jay, props for showing some love to Warzone.
Posted by Steve on March 29th, 2011Best show of 2011 so far!
Posted by Kasper on March 29th, 2011Indeed Kasper one of the funniest show ever..
Posted by Faggymcbitchtits on March 29th, 2011Greg+prostitute stories are pure gold.
Four quiffs out of four.
Logan Lerman, someone who is immune to Jay’s name game.
Posted by rjdelight on March 29th, 2011“It’s like A to Table”. Love it!
Posted by Juan Costrada on March 30th, 2011@16
Seconding the love for the Uhh Yeah Dude podcast. Jonathan Larroquette occasionally references (those are the longest four consecutive words I’ve ever typed, I think) growing up as a “lot kid” in Hollywood, but show biz isn’t the be-all-and-end-all of the podcast. And Seth is the funniest MFer on the planet. I really think they have a sensibility that FJ listeners would enjoy. They have a few vid clips — go to Google.com and type in “YouTube”, then type in “uhh yeah dude denny’s” for a classic bit. UYD 4 Life!
Posted by Sam on March 30th, 2011This episode has really made me want to catch up on Celebrity Apprentice.
Posted by Steve Kasan on March 30th, 2011For me of big budget 90 films that failed
Last Action Hero
Waterworld
Cuthroat Island in that order.
What is insteresting, going back to watching these films now, I constantly question what happened back them that made these films a failure?
LAH went up against Jurassic, but, look what happened to that franchise.
At least I can say I saw all three of these films in the theatre back in the day and enjoyed them! What is too bad about Cuthroat is that this dropped Arnold’s Crusade which is a big
One more thing, Greg, you missed out Sunny showing up for the Divas match at MSG
Posted by Steve Kasan on March 30th, 2011Thanks for the info on the Raccoons theme guys, I thought there must be a reason!
Oh, and the Liz Taylor ‘obituary’ was the greatest podcast obituary of all time!
Posted by Liney on March 31st, 2011I like The Postman too:
http://www.rowthree.com/2009/12/11/doomsday-marathon-the-postman-1997/
Jay – agreed on “A Film Unfinished.” The movie is actually kind of a mess and doesn’t really have much more than a surface idea. It has its moments of interest though.
Posted by Andrew James on March 31st, 2011@KeithTalent – not sure if I sent in my Junk Mail in time for this episode or not. But I sort of ask the same question about Blus and Criterions. For me it’s no question: Criterions are on their own section of the shelf (in spine number order).
My question related to director filmographies and Blus mixing. My life is tough I know.
Posted by Andrew James on March 31st, 2011Sam,
Awesome suggestion!!! Everyone really should go to YouTube and watch their clips, in particular the craigslist videos.
