Bridesmaids Trailer Starring Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking… do we really need yet another chick flick that revolves around a wedding? Isn’t this just another Bride Wars or 27 Dresses knockoff? Well, judging by the first trailer, a more apt description seems to be the female-centric version of The Hangover. With a cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper and Chris O’Dowd, I’m guessing there should be plenty of laughs here for both girls and guys alike.
It also helps that this is the latest comedy to fall under the Apatow Productions banner. Bridesmaids is written by Kristen Wiig and her friend Annie Mumolo, and directed by Freaks and Geeks co-creator Paul Feig. Feig’s previous feature film projects (Unaccompanied Minors, I Am David) have been a little bit lacklustre, so this is a chance for him to re-establish his comedy cred. For the most part, however, it seems like the majority of the movie will fall on Wiig’s shoulders. What do you think, will this be another hit for Apatow and Friends? Bridesmaids hits theatres on May 13th; check out the trailer after the jump.

Posted by Goon on February 1st, 2011Erk, I dunno. I wasn’t feeling the trailer, too many cliched bits I guess. I wanted to find it funny but I didn’t. I like some of the cast, so maybe it’ll be good.
Posted by Brendan on February 1st, 2011But I’m really starting to dislike the actress that plays Erin on The Office. Her character isn’t really funny on that show, and looks to be playing a similar role here. And it’s not just the writing that makes me dislike her character, it’s her portrayal. I read that she has been a contributor to The Onion, which surprises me because I don’t see much humor in her characters or even in an interview I saw with her.
Rose byne is my new Hollywood crush.

Posted by Kurt on February 3rd, 2011Kristen Wiig is a comedy black hole. She’s the least funny SNL alumnus in a while and can only do supporting roles for funnier actors.
