Jurrassic Park for the SNES was my own personal Polybius. Days of my childhood were spent trying to beat that game almost driving me into fits of insanity. Eventually years after it was released I conquered it during an all weekend session. The ending is extremely disappointing.
Posted by Film Ape on January 10th, 2011Strangely enough, I was playing Jurassic Park for the SNES just hours before this was posted. There have been plenty of odd coincidences lately… too many…
Posted by Gil on January 10th, 2011Listening to that guy’s voice mail was just brutal. BRUTAL. Please, no more.
Posted by Chris on January 10th, 2011What’s up with the iTunes delay?
Posted by rjdelight on January 10th, 2011What do you mean by delay? Is it not up on iTunes yet? It is for me.
Posted by Sean on January 10th, 2011Got it now, but it wasn’t there a little while ago.
Posted by rjdelight on January 10th, 2011I think Sean’s pretty good at getting the cast up at a fairly consistent time every week. He certainly does a better job than IGN. They’re cast can go up anywhere from a day to four or five days between posting them on their site and going up on itunes.
Posted by theman on January 10th, 2011I’m not blaming Sean, I was just curious because when it was initially posted on FJ it wasn’t on iTunes. It takes a little while, but it seemed like it was taking longer than usual.
Posted by rjdelight on January 10th, 2011I try to manually ping iTunes when I remember, which updates the feed immediately, but in this case I didn’t so it probably took a bit longer for iTunes to auto update.
Posted by Sean on January 10th, 2011Seriously? Only 5 minutes on SOMEWHERE?
Posted by Kurt on January 10th, 2011I must have got the time wrong on that. I’m pretty sure we talked about it for 15 or 20 minutes.
Posted by Sean on January 10th, 2011Yea, I should listen before commenting. The time track should read 35:00 for the Somewhere start.
Posted by Kurt on January 10th, 2011K, fixed it… thanks!
Posted by Sean on January 10th, 2011Seconding comment #3 a million times.
PLEASE keep that loser “The Man” out of your future episodes. He’s not funny or insightful in any way and his schtick brings the podcast to a screeching halt every time. Thanks!
Posted by Bob Bobson on January 10th, 2011The film is definitely NIGHTFALL.
Posted by Kurt on January 10th, 2011…which by the way is nothing like the Asimov story (no surprise there), but stars the lady from Conan The Destroyer.
I’ve seen Nightfall a couple times, and the plot described is close enough. Several people definitely get their eyes pecked out.
Posted by Kurt on January 10th, 2011Seems like a pretty good week for BD releases. Tops on the list has to be Once Upon a Time in America. Hopefully you’ll show more love when you guys see it in BD =)
Posted by Primal on January 10th, 2011Oh gotta love those haters….
Posted by The Man on January 10th, 2011Damn, Jay could have made a ton of money on that $30 to $90 trade. He should have bought and traded 20 copies!
Posted by Berserker on January 11th, 2011Yeah, that voicemail is brutal. No need.
Posted by Jason Martynowski on January 11th, 2011I vote for no voicemail on the show.
Never funny.
Never informative.
Always brings the show to a dead halt.
Always from “characters” who think they’re funny but are utterly embarrassing in how wrong they are.
Posted by Miike on January 11th, 2011Greg –
If you kill Ted Williams, you *will* get his voice!
That’s how it works!
Posted by Spartan on January 11th, 2011@ Spartan – How did I not know this?
Posted by Greg on January 11th, 2011So if “The Man” only used 30 seconds worth of words like Greg suggested, I imagine the word “fuckin’” is responsible for about 15 seconds of them.
Posted by Brendan on January 11th, 2011Also, the word is “diatribe,” not “diatride.” I guess you could say he dia-tried and dia-failed. Maybe he just likes to put “D” at the end of words he’s not familiar with, like Jay “Cheeled.”
Piling on the hate!
Hey Filmjunk,
Thank God ! I thought maybe someone who handles the mail at Greg’s store might have grabbed the giftcards.
I never thought about the blood red envelopes – yikes – sorry !
You all do great stuff. I’ve had bad days and listened to the podcasts and found myself laughing within minutes. Thanks for all the fun.
Any chance Frank and Greg can talk about Cronenberg on the next podcast ? I saw Jay and Sean were discussing him on another podcast and I’d like to hear their opinions. Maybe even a Cronenberg Special (fingers crossed) …..
My Top 5 Upcoming Films:
5. Drive Angry 3D
4. The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence
3. The Beaver
2. Captain America
1. Super 8
On Fubar 2 – You can never hear “More than a feeling” and not think of that scene with Deaner.
The ghost in Fubar 2 was the documentary filmmaker (Farrell) who died when they went swimming.
BEEN DARE DUN DAT.
RE: The final party scene in The Ghost Writer – Did any of you get a “Rosemary’s Baby” vibe when she was looking around the room ? Meaning – the crib scene at the end when she finally sees the baby.
@ Jay: You mentioned a while back that were collecting movie posters – Have you bought anything lately ?
Posted by Mark In Ottawa on January 12th, 2011If you’re gonna play voicemails, have them be short & sweet, under a couple minutes at the most. This one was paaaaaainful, but the others from #300 weren’t bad.
Posted by JasonW on January 12th, 2011Mark In Ottawa IS THE MAN
Posted by rus in chicago on January 12th, 2011@Mark In Ottawa: I just bought a poster for Les Blank’s Burden of Dreams, the documentary on the making of Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo. Other then that, nothing in quite some time unfortunately. I do have a bunch I still want to get framed though.
Posted by Jay C. on January 13th, 2011@Mark In Ottawa: Sean just gave me the Xmas card you sent for me. Your Xmas card was the only one I received from anyone including family! Thanks very much for your kind and encouraging words. And The Future Shop gift card was a pleasant surprise. You’re my #1 fan now! (Sorry, Claudette.)
Posted by Reed Farrington on January 13th, 2011@ Rus in Chicago – Thanks, hopefullt that’s not sarcasm.
@ The legendary Mr. Jay Cheel – Would you ever post a list on the site re: what you have ?
My two best are the “Why so serious” Heath Ledger Dark Knight poster – http://ca.movieposter.com/poster/MPW-29829/Dark_Knight.html
and
the SAW III Poster, printed with Tobin Bell’s blood – http://ca.movieposter.com/poster/MPW-21666/Saw_III.html
@ The greatest Asian man who ever lived (sorry Rob Schneider) – Thanks for the kind words. I don’t think they sell movies on VHS, but maybe you can order them
You need to do more work with Filmjunk/ Cantankerous, dude. FUCK THE HATERS.
Posted by Mark In Ottawa on January 13th, 2011Ooops, an error –
@ Rus in Chicago – Thanks, hopefully that’s not sarcasm.
Posted by Mark In Ottawa on January 13th, 2011Thanks again Mark in Ottawa
You’ll be happy to know the gift cart went towards a Costner classic … Dances with Wolves.
Posted by Frank on January 13th, 2011HAHAHA !
That’s fuckin’ awesome ! You know I kinda had a hope that when you guys were going through the reccent video releases and that came up you might do that.
Filmjunk needs another casino story, dude. You should bring Reed – Asians love that shit …..
