Adam Green and 3 Others Team Up for Horror Anthology Film Chillerama

If you’re a fan of horror anthology films like Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt, you’ll probably be interested to hear that there is a new one in the works that is due to be released sometime next year. Genre movies composed of multiple short films used to happen a bit more frequently back in the ’70s and ’80s, but they have been all but dead lately… that is, until Michael Dougherty resurrected the idea with Trick ‘r Treat. Now director Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) is teaming up with Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2), Adam Rifkin (Detroit Rock City) and Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs) for a project called Chillerama. Read on to find out what each movie is about.
According to Bloody Disgusting, the backdrop for Chillerama is that the last drive-in theatre in America is closing and the owner is having one final night of movie mayhem. I guess we are to assume that each segment will be one of the movies playing at the drive-in?
Green’s short is entitled “The Diary of Anne Frankenstein”, and it is about Hitler trying to create the perfect killing machine. Kane Hodder and Joel Moore star. Rifkin offers “Wadzilla”, a throwback monster movie about a guy trying to raise his sperm count, with special effects by The Chiodo Brothers (Killer Klowns from Outer Space). Sullivan’s movie is “I Was a Teenage Werebear”, a tribute to ’50s surf movies, and Lynch is adding a Romero-style zombie movie to the mix.
All in all, it sounds like these guys are having a lot of fun creating their own Grindhouse-type experience, and the good news is, they’re supposedly almost done production. In the meantime, as we await more details on this project, you can check out some of the short films that Green and Lynch have created over the past few years, all of which are available on their production company’s official website.
