Jonathan Liebesman Confirmed to Direct Clash of the Titans 2

After a few months of negotiations, Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) has earned himself a spot in the director’s chair for Warner Brothers’ Clash of the Titans 2. Liebesman, whose Battle: Los Angeles releases next year, will have quite a bit of work ahead of him given that the first film didn’t exactly wow critics or audiences. I suppose that in the eyes of the studio, any film that makes over 500 million worldwide deserves a sequel, so we’ll get one no matter what. One thing is for sure: the studio will be improving the 3D this time around, reportedly shooting in 3D instead of post-converting.

While I don’t know much about Liebesman as a filmmaker, he seems like an interesting choice and maybe we can expect something different from him than Louis Letterier. As far as other talent involved, Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern), Dan Mazeau, (The Flash), and David Leslie Johnson (Red Riding Hood) all worked on a treatment of the story and Mazeau and Johnson are now working on the screenplay. Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are also expected to reprise their roles in the sequel.

So what do you think? Is Jonathan Liebesman a good choice for Clash of the Titans 2? Was anyone actually asking for this movie in the first place?

  1. Louis Letterier did very mediocre work on Clash of the Titans and The Incredible Hulk so it’s good that he won’t be back. However, I don’t have high hopes for the sequel either.

  2. Nobody cares who the director is on these types of action blockbusters. The people who go to see them go because the trailers look cool. They don’t even know who Jonathan Lesbian is.
