Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan Trailer Starring Natalie Portman

Whoa. The first trailer has arrived online for Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, and it is both mesmerizing and unsettling. The movie stars Natalie Portman as a professional ballerina whose life starts spinning out of control when a new dancer (Mila Kunis) joins the group and competes with her for the lead role in an upcoming production. Don’t be put off by the idea that this is a movie about ballet; much like The Wrestler, this is only a backdrop for a dark and twisted character study. The movie looks like it goes to some pretty dark places, and the suspense created just within these two minutes alone is palpable.
This is also a chance for Mila Kunis to prove that she can do something more than comedy (although I suppose she did star in American Psycho 2), and with a supporting cast that also includes Vincent Cassel, Barbara Hershey, and Winona Ryder, it looks like she may pull it off. I’m definitely getting a Polanski or even a Kubrick vibe from this, and I think it’s safe to say that Black Swan has just clinched the top of my list of most anticipated flicks at TIFF this year. Black Swan hits select theatres on December 1st; check out the trailer in HD over at Apple.com or watch an embedded version after the jump.

Posted by ted on August 17th, 2010I’m all in!
At first I thought that it would play out like the twist in Fight Club, that’s before I saw the District 9 like eyes and metamorphosis towards the end. I can’t wait.
Posted by Marc on August 17th, 2010Looks a bit like “Chloe” meets “The Fly.”
Which would be kind of awesome.
Posted by Ashley on August 17th, 2010Now this is the kind of movie that I have been yearning to see all year. Looks better than fantastic! Sean, you said you see Polanski and Kubrick in there. I see them, but I also see Cronenberg and Lynch. At least from the ogre and the shot at the end.
Posted by Senor G on August 17th, 2010OMG! I just jeezed in my pants lol Cant effing wait! Darren Aronofsky, Enough said!

Posted by Antho42 on August 17th, 2010For some reason I can’t see Natalie Portman act…she recites lines she’s rather stiff…likes she’s trying really hard to act.
Trailer looks cool…love Darren’s work.
Wait for reviews to decide if it’s worth seeing.
Posted by 1138 on August 17th, 2010whoa! mila kunis looks mega-skinnier than usual
Posted by Jonny Ashley on August 17th, 2010His movies can really make trailers that make me not watch them, that’s for sure…

Posted by MGL on August 18th, 2010Wasn’t there talk awhile back about Natalie Portman starring in a remake of Suspiria?Maybe this is it?
Posted by Joe on August 18th, 2010It’s a joke but comparison with Showgirls has some truth to it. It’s no The Red Shoes, anyway.
Posted by DavidM on August 18th, 2010This is a complete rip-off of the anime PERFECT BLUE. He just changed actress for a ballet dancer.
Posted by TheAllKnowingGod on August 18th, 2010/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\wow! you got that much from the trailer! that is what you consider a “complete rip-off” I think one has super-natural hints the other psychological?!
Posted by rus in chicago on August 18th, 2010this movie will NOT fail us
Posted by Werner on August 18th, 2010I want to do unspeakable things to both of these girls.
Posted by swarez on August 18th, 2010Seeing two hot jew girls make out will be nice. I hope the money shot of Natalie Portman spreading out her wings will be awesome. Or will it even go there?
Posted by Primal on August 18th, 2010Am I the only one who thinks Mila Kunis’ new plastic surgery face looks distractingly weird? I guess Aronofsky worked magic with Mickey Rourke’s plastic surgery face.
Posted by Henrik on August 18th, 2010My eyeballs are bleeding and my brain is melting. I remember skipping The Wrestler at TIFF last year and regretting it, gotta catch this one, wonder is Sean and Jay are going?
Posted by drewsifer on August 18th, 2010I use to think Mila Kunis’ face use to bother me a few years ago when that plastic was real fresh in Max Payne and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I haven’t seen her in anything since then, but that stuff seems to have settled and molded in nicely, lol.
Posted by Primal on August 18th, 2010seems to be all over the place but i am intrigued to say the least
Posted by juan on August 18th, 2010Mila Kunis and plastic surgery? Are you guys high? She’s 27 years old you retards.
Posted by swarez on August 19th, 2010Swarez
Your kidding yourself if you think that there is an age restriction on cosmetic surgery. I’ve lived around the L.A. area most of my life and I can say it’s extremely common to have some kind of work done, even those who aren’t in the entertainment industry. Girls in high school are getting boob jobs left and right here in SoCal. It’s crazy shit, but it’s happening.
As for Kunis, it’s all speculation, right? So lighten the fuck up.
Posted by Primal on August 19th, 2010Well if you look at her face in That 70s Show, and look at it now, it sure looks like things were re-arranged quite a bit. But yeah, I have no proof, in the immortal words of Michael Jackson: “People change.”
Posted by Henrik on August 20th, 2010If you told me a movie about Ballet rivalry would hook me a week ago… well yeah, this looks great. Aronofsky is a genius.
And Swarez, it’s 2010, Cosmetic surgery isn’t the hot topic it once was, I’ve met a few girls who had stuff done in high school who aren’t trashy/valley girl types. If it makes them happy, then I’m cool.

Posted by Kurei on August 20th, 2010Wow Perfect Blue? Thats stretching it a bit, if not a lot. This doesn’t even resemble the anime, the book nor the live action movie. But hey whatever floats your boat. Unless youre gonna say that ALL psychological thriller movies that has character studies are the same then yes I agree that its a complete ripoff, and it ripped off the Machinist as well, Psycho, Audition, The Wrestler…..
Kurei: Download the script.
