Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s The Virginity Hit Trailer

Yet another movie that was being promoted at the San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend is a new project from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay — no, not The Other Guys, but rather another indie comedy that they are producing through Gary Sanchez Productions called The Virginity Hit. The film actually screened at SDCC where it seemed to get a very positive reaction, and now a red band trailer has appeared online. Could this be the next Superbad?
At the very least, it feels like an update on American Pie in that a large part of the plot seems to revolve around losing ones virginity, the use of webcams and uploading embarrassing clips to YouTube. In fact, it looks like the whole movie is shot handheld, which is an interesting idea that hasn’t really been done outside of a mockumentary format. Strangely enough, it was also written and directed by Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland, the same guys who wrote the upcoming handheld horror movie The Last Exorcism. I can’t say the trailer made me laugh out loud, but it’s an intriguing concept either way. (Note: The trailer is a bit long, so if you’re sensitive to “spoilers” you might not want to watch the whole thing.) The Virginity Hit is scheduled for release sometime this fall; check out the trailer after the jump.

The 2 main characters sound a lot like Michael Cera and Jonah Hill.
Posted by Matt on July 28th, 2010so is it a sort of mocumentary? or is the trailer like that and the film will be linear?

Posted by Falsk on July 28th, 2010Looks horrible and not funny at all, but instead like someone trying too hard to be cool and hip, doing all the right things that a teen comedy needs. Blergh.
