Mirrors 2 Trailer Starring Nick Stahl

You know, I understand the temptation for studios to greenlight direct-to-DVD sequels for semi-popular movies, but I really don’t see why they would bother trying the same thing for a movie that failed the first time around. Can a DTV sequel with a lesser known cast and crew really offer an improvement? Granted, I still haven’t seen Alexandre Aja’s Mirrors, but the 15% rating on Rotten Tomatoes has convinced me that my initial impressions of this movie were probably right. At any rate, we now have the inexplicable sequel Mirrors 2 on the way, which unfortunately does not star Kiefer Sutherland. It does, however, star Nick Stahl… poor guy, he deserves better.

Stahl plays Max, a nighttime security guard at a department store who starts to see visions of a mysterious woman in the store’s mirrors. William Katt (that’s right, The Greatest American Hero himself) plays Max’s father Jack. The one interesting thing is that the DVD and Blu-ray for Mirrors 2 will also include the Korean film on which the original was based, Into The Mirror… I guess that’s one way to get people to buy it. Mirrors 2 is directed by Victor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill) and it hits stores on October 19th. Check out the trailer after the jump.

  1. I remember going to the theater to see Mirrors… I don’t remember the movie.

  2. Mirrors wasn’t great, but it wasn’t that bad either. This shows a flaw in the Rotten Tomatoes system. Maybe only 15% of critics gave it a favorable rating, but on a scale of 1-100, it is at least a 37 in my mind. I would call it “drive-in worthy”. I not going to see the sequel, but maybe the Korean original.

  3. Nick Stahl was awesome in Carnivale, and it seemed like his career might be on the up when he landed the role of the Yellow Bastard in Sin City. And now here we are.

  4. Not to mention he played John Connor in Terminator 3. Come on, buddy!

  5. I don’t really like this director . . . I think he’s the same dude who did “Martyrs” correct? That movie pissed me off in a big way.

I didn’t know this had a Korean original. What is it called?
