There isn’t much revealed about the story in the first teaser trailer for Dwayne Johnson’s new film Faster, but in less than 60 seconds they managed to convince me that this could actually be The Rock’s first decent film in a very long time. At the very least, it’s a welcome return to serious action movies for him after spending a so much time doing goofy family comedies. His last action role was probably Doom in 2005, but thankfully this seems to be a little closer in tone to Walking Tall or The Rundown.

Faster is a revenge flick about an ex-con seeking to avenge his brother’s death after they were double-crossed during a heist. The only other people to feature in the trailer at all are Billy Bob Thornton and Maggie Grace, but Carla Gugino, Moon Bloodgood, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Tom Berenger also have roles. It does promise plenty of driving and shooting, which is probably good enough for me, even if the movie is directed by George Tillman Jr. (Notorious, Men of Honor, Soul Food). Hey, what the hell, I may give it a shot. Will you? Faster hits theatres on November 24th; check out the trailer after the jump.
