Kick-Ass is Cyclops? Banshee and Beast Also Cast for X-Men: First Class
We’ve got another round of casting updates to bring you this week for X-Men: First Class, and although the biggest one is still somewhat unconfirmed, it remains quite probable. If a tipster over at Ain’t It Cool News is to be believed, Matthew Vaughn will be reteaming with Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson for a major role in First Class. He will apparently be donning the shielded visor of Scott Summers aka Cyclops, which was previously worn by James Marsden in the first three X-Men films.
Elsewhere, Deadline.com is reporting that both Beast and Banshee have been cast as well, albeit with lesser known actors. Nicholas Hoult (About A Boy, The Weather Man) will be playing Beast (ruling out the previously rumoured Benjamin Walker), and Caleb Landry Jones (The Last Exorcism, The Social Network) will take on Banshee.
I don’t know if there’s really much to say about the casting of Hoult and Jones right now, but no doubt Johnson’s possible involvement will annoy the people who didn’t like Kick-Ass. At the very least, he looks the part. It does seem a little odd that so many of the casting choices are coming from across the pond, but I guess that may be a result of the fact that director Matthew Vaughn is British. Hey wait, the new Spider-Man is a Brit too… is this some kind of conspiracy?

This is all good..The Brits are the best actors quite simply and always have been. I was hoping for Aaron Johnson, I think he has the right look and he´s a very good actor.. I only hope that Cyclops will have a bigger role in these movies.. I still don´t understand how people can not like Kick-Ass, it was a perfect movie in every way.
Posted by pcch7 on July 8th, 2010Nicholas Hoult is a brilliant actor. Hugely popular here in the UK for being the front star of a show called Skins. Plus; he was recently in A Single Man. Which he was brilliant in.
Not sure about him as the role of Beast. But We’ll see how that character is done.

Posted by TheAllKnowingGod on July 8th, 2010Actually Cyclops does look and act like a dweeb…well not really but he’s a boyscout and the least likable out of all the xmen….I think the Kickass guy would fit nicely in that role…and yea Beast should be and is older than Cyclops..and Kickass the movie was far from perfect pcch7, they shouldve stuck with the comic book ending if they wanted to do a ‘realistic’ superhero movie, as it stand now its just a regular superhero movie.
