Sir Billi Promo Trailer Starring Sean Connery

Well, the good news is Sir Sean Connery is coming out of retirement. The bad news is he’s coming out of retirement for this! Sir Billi is the first full-length CG-animated film produced by Glasgow Animation about a skateboarding grandpa who teams up with his goat (voiced by Alan Cumming) to save Bessie Boo the beaver. I suppose he decided that League of Extraordinary Gentlemen wasn’t the ideal farewell film and he wanted to go out on a high note instead.
Sir Billi is an all Scottish production, which is probably why he decided to help out, but based on the first sizzle reel, the animation quality looks to be somewhat questionable. Aside from Connery and Cumming, the cast is mostly unknowns (at least, outside of the U.K. anyway). Scottish fashion guru Tessa Hartmann is listed as a writer and producer of the film, while her husband Sascha is making his directorial debut. I’m not sure what else to say, but hopefully this means that Zardoz 2 isn’t out of the question. Check out the promo for Sir Billi after the jump, if you think you can stomach it!

Wow, that looks absolutely horrid in the character design department. I would expect something like this coming from over here, Iceland, but not Scotland.
Posted by swarez on June 28th, 2010Makes me wonder if the designers did not get any inspiration from US production where the characters look likable and well designed.
Animation is shite too.
That’s really…ugly.
Oh well, why come back for Indiana Jones when you could drag your ancient corpse into a booth to voice grampa Billi as your last performance before your inevitable death, right?
Posted by Fatbologna on June 28th, 2010Well said, Sean. Connery has always been dodgy with his post-Bond film-roles. Such a wide range of quality, leaning towards a lot of crap.
Posted by kurt on June 28th, 2010As someone from Scotland, I can say that I have no pride in this trailer. Just a fiery urge to watch Outland.
Posted by JLR on June 28th, 2010The animation looks like the quality of a 1995 videogame when 3D was all new.
All in all this looks absolutely horrid. The voiceacting is also atrocious.
