Kane and Lynch Snags New Director

Here’s a movie I’m pretty excited about. Based on the video game of the same name, Kane and Lynch is an upcoming crime-action film starring Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx. Originally Simon Crane was attached to direct, but now reports are saying that he has left the film. Apparently the studio was trying to bring F. Gary Gray on board (you may remember him from the very entertaining and enjoyable Law Abiding Citizen), but while he did talk with them, he ultimately decided not to sign on.
Now reports are saying that the studio has found a new director in the form of Wayne Kramer, the man responsible for The Cooler and Running Scared, among other things. I enjoyed both of those films, and with Kramer now on board I think Kane and Lynch has potential. It has two great actors and a solid director, which is definitely a good start. Are you guys looking forward to this film? How many of you played the game?
As always, let us know in the comments.

I haven’t played the game, but I’m assuming Kane & Lynch are the two guys on the cover, if that is so, I’m surprised people aren’t pissed off about Jamie Foxx playing what was supposed to be a white man. That’s quite a change if you ask me.

People are pissed off. Not only is Lynch white, but he’s white trash. So, in order to fit Jamie Foxx’s giant cranium into this movie they’re going to obviously be completely rewriting the character completely.
The game wasn’t all that great but it had potential to be a good movie.
I fully anticipate what should have played out like a Michael Mann movie to now fall squarely into buddy comedy crap territory.
Ugh.

Har har har
Posted by Ben on May 28th, 2010Kurt Russell and Kevin Spacey would have been sweet.
Or better: Jeff Bridges and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
But Willis and Foxx? MEH
