The New Spider-Man is Down to Two Choices?

With Tobey Maguire out of the picture, Sony has been left to find a new star for their Spider-Man reboot. The reboot is being directed by Marc Webb and is going to be in 3-D. Today sources are saying Webb and Sony have almost found their new Spider-Man, and the choice has come down to two actors. The first is Jamie Bell, who you’d probably know from Billy Elliot and Jumper, while the second is Josh Hutcherson who you would know if you saw Journey To The Center Of The Earth, the terrible Brendan Fraser flick.
There are still a few other candidates being considered, including Andrew Garfield (Boy A), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro). However, Hutcherson and Bell are the front runners in the competition, and with the studio planning a July 2012 release, you can be sure we’ll be hearing about the decision soon. Who would you like to see play Spider-Man? As always let us know in the comments.

Isn’t that Anthony Michael-Hall on the left?

Posted by Phil on May 27th, 2010Pleasepleaseplease say that it is Jamie Bell. Awesome actor who I could seriously see as Peter Parker.
Posted by Billy Boyd Cape on May 27th, 2010Wow. They both look 12 yrs old.
Posted by Darksiders on May 27th, 2010I’m pulling for Josh. Even though he’s a bit of a newcomer, that kid can act his ass off!
Posted by Aaron on May 27th, 2010I thought they wanted a “young” peter parker? Sony is full of shit. How bout getting an actual 17 or 18yr old actor. You might as well hire to tobey mcguire if your gonna hire these guys.
Posted by lewis on May 27th, 2010Josh Hutcherson was quite impressive in “Bridge to Terabithia” and good fun as the “bad” guy in “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant” He’s also starring in the upcoming new version of “Red Dawn”. He’s geek-movie material…
Posted by Werner on May 27th, 2010Well, I don’t really know either actor, other than the Billy Elliot guy was nominated for an Oscar. But if this Hosh Jutcherson can act as well as Aaron & Werner posted, I’m felling a bit better about the film. A lot can still go wrong, but at least it seems they’re casting a lead with acting chops.
Posted by Brendan on May 27th, 2010hey lewis your mother must have dropped you on your head while at work at the whore house……jaimie is only 24 josh is only 18 and tobey is like 34 so there whore house baby
Posted by Justin on May 28th, 2010Someone please explain to me why a 4th Spider-Man movie (With none of the original cast or director) is necessary.
Hell, the trilogy has finished the story arc. The subplot involving his friendship with Harry is over, the villains are dead and they had a happy ending at the end of Spidey 3. Smells like Indy 4.
Posted by Steve on May 28th, 2010The dude on the left is a spitting image of young Kevin Bacon… I have the plot-line – Spiderman meets up with his long lost dad Jebediah Parker who possesses super powers – he actually was bitten by radioactive horse and walks around New York as the Horseman kicking bad guys on the nuts. (That synopsis was leaked straight out of Hollywood)
Posted by Ismael on May 28th, 2010That’s such a no brainer, it hurts. Jamie Bell is bloody awesome. And a good choice.
Posted by Kurt on May 28th, 2010Just watch Dear Wendy and Undertow to convince yourself. Both great movies, with great lead performances from Bell.
Posted by Kurt on May 28th, 2010Miachel Cera looks just the right amount of awkward and he can do action, but I know…
