Xavier Gens’ The Divide Post-Apocalyptic Teaser Trailer

As far as I’m concerned, there’s always room for another post-apocalyptic thriller in the world, particularly if it comes from a talented director. Although I have yet to see any of Xavier Gens’ previous films, I have been lead to believe that Frontière(s) is at least a pretty ballsy French horror flick. On the other hand, his first studio film, Hitman, wasn’t very well-received by anyone, although there is some debate over whether or not it is really the film that Xavier Gens wanted to make. Either way, with any luck, it looks like he may be able to make up for it with his next film, The Divide.
Previously announced under the title “The Fallout”, the movie takes place in New York, just after a cataclysmic explosion has decimated the city. Eight strangers settle in to a fallout shelter beneath their apartment building, only to be raided and attacked by a group of mysterious men in HAZMAT suits. Clearly there are questions that need answering, and I only hope that for once it doesn’t involve zombies. The good news is that the movie stars Michael Biehn (along with Milo Ventimiglia and Rosanna Arquette), and the teaser trailer looks quite promising. It was released on Friday and was originally supposed to be up for only 24 hours, but has since spread across YouTube and seems to be here to stay. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Posted by Mike on May 24th, 2010interesting…could be a rental or good movie…seems it could go either way. The trailer feels kind of cheap in terms of production…but the intensity is cool.

I just Came from the theater where I saw: “La Hordes” (The Hordes) Witch is a new French – Horror – Zombie film from yet another “talented French Director”…
But A bit original.. (fistfighting with zombies) and of-course extremely low budget. It’s story telling-script and plot development stays to the typical French levels.. *(that is law) But overall is watchable..
And i must say It was up there with Frontière’s. (not that good)
French try to Handle heavy handed subjects and blend them with Horror, witch is interesting (i guess) but the thing is they never quite deliver what they promise.. (with few exceptions (“High Tension, Amelie”) French movies usually collapse under their own weight)..
Now about that Xavier Gens guy.. Frontries was OK, But Hitman was a mess. From what I recall I was pretty frustrated when I left the theater…
So I don’t expect much..
The thing is, when you see a low budged action movie in French or Japanese or whatever other language other than English, its hard to notice cliches and Bad Acting..
Posted by kyriacos on May 24th, 2010But When those directors finally get a chance to direct a proper movie the result is usually artistically repulsive..
In French even JCVD is a good actor..
I actually liked Hitman. I thought it much better than it had any right to be.
Posted by Deven Science on May 24th, 2010Hitman was a victim of studio interference. I heard that Gens’ own cut is much better, and much more brutal.
Posted by swarez on May 25th, 2010Frontière(s) was pretty good as a french TCM basically.
I liked Hitman! I liked how Xavier Gens portrayed killer agent 47, very stylish and clean. It’s bad he won’t make Hitman 2. He knows how to shoot beautifully.
