New Promo Trailer for The Romantics

Plum Pictures has debuted a new promo trailer for writer/director Galt Niederhoffer’s dramedy The Romantics, starring Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Adam Brody, Malin Akerman, Candice Bergen, and Elijah Wood. In the first few seconds, it’s possible to think Niederhoffer is regurgitating the same old “I’m getting married, but I’m in love with someone else” story. But you’ll see at the 30-second point, there’s a frame that reads “Things are getting interesting”, and that’s correct. There’s something different that sets The Romantics apart from its cliché-abundant counterparts, and I have absolutely no idea what it is.
“Over the course of one raucous night at a seaside wedding eight close friends, all members of a tight, eclectic college clique, reconvene to watch two of their own tie the knot. Laura is maid of honor to Lila, her golden girl best friend. The two have long rivaled over the groom, Tom. Friendships and alliances are tested and the love triangle comes to a head the night before the wedding, when the drunken friends frolic in the nearby surf and return to shore… without the groom.”
The film slated for a release sometime this year. See the trailer after the jump.
