Corey Haim 1971-2010

Well, I don’t think this is going to be the most shocking celebrity death in recent years, but for anyone who grew up in the ’80s, it will probably hit a bit close to home. Corey Haim, the teen idol turned reality TV star, collapsed in his mother’s apartment early this morning. After being rushed to the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, he was pronounced dead an hour or so later. It is believed that he died of an accidental drug overdose, and although he had been battling prescription drug addiction for many years prior, he was said to have been sober at the time.
Haim appeared throughout the ’80s in such films as The Lost Boys, Lucas, and License to Drive, before starring in a number of direct-to-video films in the ’90s and then falling on hard times. More recently, he had been experiencing a career resurgence of sorts, with roles in Crank: High Voltage and The Lost Boys: The Tribe. His long-time friend and reality show co-star Corey Feldman has yet to comment, but will no doubt be crushed by this loss. What are some of your favourite Corey Haim performances?

Posted by Karla on March 10th, 2010i guess it is no surprise that the haimster has passed away at such a young age, i am sure that most people would have thought that he would have been gone long ago with the addictions that he was apart of.
Posted by Mike H on March 10th, 2010being a huge fan of the 80s, haim was definitely one of my favs along with feldman. haim starred in my all time fav flick, The Lost Boys, and also some other favs like Lucas, Licence To Drive and Silver Bullet.
i know alot of 80s fans will definitely miss haim, we all were hoping that he was going to straighten himself out and get his career back in order.

Posted by insensetiveprick on March 10th, 2010thanks alot Greg
Ouch. In my defense, I wasn’t in charge of the hiring at that time.
I shall not live with that burden!
Posted by Greg on March 10th, 2010This makes me sad.
I really like “Lucas” a lot. I disagree with some online commenters that he was talentless. I think we’ll never know what he COULD HAVE done if bad parenting, fame, and drugs hadn’t taken their toll. Not saying he was some master thespian, but he certainly did not have to have the life he did.

Posted by 81 on March 10th, 2010I hate to be that guy, but let’s face it – this guy’s filmography is fucking garbage.
Oh yeah, RIP.

Posted by Mason on March 10th, 2010WTF? Is this a joke or did Haim really apply to work at the Hamilton HMV?
Posted by Bluelouboyle on March 11th, 2010pretty sure it was a Toronto HMV but yes, that story is well known and not just among HMV employees, its the kind of funny thing that gets around.
Posted by Goon on March 11th, 2010Didn’t he send in a resume with a head shot as well or something? This one may need retelling on the next podcast.
Posted by Sean on March 11th, 2010A death is always regrettable. Though, not surprised at all. This guy screwed around with his career and when it hit rock bottom, picked up a hell of a coke habit.
