Danny McBride to Star in Todd Phillips’ The Chadster

After a number of great supporting roles in comedies like Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, and Land of the Lost (among others), Danny McBride is slowly emerging as a leading man with the next wave of comedic projects he is currently lining up. In addition to David Gordon Green’s Your Highness, Jody Hill’s L.A.P.I., and the graphic novel adaptation Hench, he has now reportedly signed on to star in a new Warner Brothers film called The Chadster.
Pajiba reports that McBride will play the “eccentric, long-lost childhood friend” of the best man at a wedding who shows up out of nowhere and wreaks havoc on the proceedings. Sounds the role should be perfect fit for McBride, especially considering that the script is written by Eastbound & Down scribe Shawn Harwell. Todd Phillips (The Hangover, Old School) was originally signed on to produce and direct, but has since dropped out as director. Wedding-themed comedies are a pretty hot commodity around Hollywood right now, especially those that can appeal to both men and women. This one could probably be a big hit… assuming the Danny McBride backlash hasn’t taken full effect by the time it hits theatres.
