Weekly Poll Results: Best Buddy Cop Movie

If you wanna talk buddy cop films, you definitely can’t have that discussion without bringing up the Lethal Weapon series. They may not have been the first, but they definitely perfected the template when it comes to blending action and comedy. Lethal Weapon still endures, and thus tops last week’s poll, followed by Edgar Wright’s action parody Hot Fuzz and Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills Cop. Tango & Cash and Bad Boys round out the top 5. Do these results look right to you? What other movies deserve to be on the list?
1. Lethal Weapon — 39%
2. Hot Fuzz — 24%
3. Beverly Hills Cop — 11.3%
4. Tango & Cash — 7.5%
5. Bad Boys — 5.8%
6. Rush Hour — 3.8%
6. 48 Hrs. — 3.8%
8. Alien Nation — 1.7%
8. Starsky & Hutch — 1.7%
10. Red Heat — 1.4%

I would eliminate Rush Hour from the list.
Does a film like Turner & Hooch count? Kind of similar.
Posted by Chris Harvey on February 11th, 2010Nighthawks. Very underrated Movie.
Posted by Nemesis on February 11th, 2010I think 48hrs should have been higher, But Lethal Weapon is the shit all the way…
Posted by xego on February 11th, 2010I am surprised that Running Scared (the 1986 one with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines) is not on the list – it preceded Lethal Weapon by one year, I think and fits the buddy cop formula more closely than Alien Nation or Red Heat. It’s also notable for having an actual funny performance from Billy Crystal before he got all City Slickers.
Posted by Kirk on February 12th, 2010Running Scared should definitely be on here.
Posted by Tony B. on February 27th, 2010Anyone who didn’t rate Running Scared has ZERO right to comment on this list, period. The mere fact that respondents failed to acknowledge one of the great founding fathers of the buddy cop genre means that this list has about as much value as the wad of dog turds I scraped off my shoes the other day. Running Scared is the best cop film of all time. Deal with it or fuck off.
