Weekly Poll Results: Favourite Miramax Film

As expected, it was another one-sided poll last week with Pulp Fiction clearly standing out head and shoulders above all other top Miramax releases. Tarantino also claimed the #2 spot with Reservoir Dogs, followed by Kevin Smith’s Clerks at #3. I had hoped that by wording it as “favourite” Miramax film as opposed to “best”, the voting might be a bit closer, but obviously Pulp Fiction is one movie no one has grown tired of. However, it’s interesting to note that Chicago and The English Patient were both at the bottom of the poll when, in fact, they are the only films on the list to win Best Picture. Go figure. For a full list of Miramax releases over the years, check out this Wikipedia entry.
1. Pulp Fiction — 45%
2. Reservoir Dogs — 11%
3. Clerks — 9.7%
4. City of God — 9.1%
5. Good Will Hunting — 7.2%
5. Amelie — 7.2%
7. Trainspotting — 6.8%
8. Swingers — 2.3%
9. The English Patient — 0.8%
9. Chicago — 0.8%

If we were talking about “best”, I might have chose City of God. Pulp Fiction is easily my favorite.

Posted by Rick on February 4th, 2010City of God is quite probably the best of the bunch, but my faves off of the list also include The English Patient and Trainspotting, too bad they’re not getting much love here.

I would say this this disparity between what the Academy votes for, and what the common movie viewer would vote for, has long been stunning. Therefore I don’t personally find this to be unusual.
Posted by Cufford on February 4th, 2010Damn, that’s one hell of a catalogue right there. Miramax really was something else back in the day, Hollywood is in dire need of another Miramax. Good poll, man. Keep it up.
