Buried Teaser Trailer Starring Ryan Reynolds

If you’ve been wanting to see Ryan Reynolds in a slightly different kind of role, you’ll probably be interested in a little movie called Buried that is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this year. He plays an American working in Iraq who is kidnapped and buried alive inside a coffin with only a lighter and a cell phone. As his oxygen slowly runs out, he struggles to remember how he got there, and desperately tries find a way out of this impossible situation.

Directed by Rodrigo Cortés, it’s another indie thriller that appears to use its limited budget as a strength, and it certainly sounds like it could make for a pretty intense experience. I’m very curious to see how they turn the idea into a feature-length film. A teaser trailer has arrived online this week, and although I wasn’t sure I could buy Ryan Reynolds in a role like this, his acting does seem up to the task. If you want more, you can also check out a clip from the film over at MTV Movies Blog. For info on screening times, visit the Sundance website. The teaser trailer is embedded after the jump; check it out and see what you think!

  1. I’m yet to be impressed by RR’s acting skills. His expressions just come off as fake/forced to me. This is true even in the case of this teaser. It seems very forced. Ain’t jumping the gun though.. the plot seems interesting enough to allow him to deliver a realistic performance. Keeping an eye out for this.

  2. If only he had his Green Lantern ring, he could blast out of there..

  3. I think Reynolds looks solid in the teaser and the clip. I think this will be a fine performance and show off his heretofore unseen versatility as an actor.
