Disney Shuts Down Wild Hogs Sequel

It has often been said that whenever another pointless remake or stupid comedy hits theatres, instead of complaining, people should simply let their wallets do the talking… meaning: don’t pay to see the movie, and Hollywood will get the message. Inevitably, the movies end up doing quite well anyway, and thus the cycle continues. However, in the case of Disney’s recent comedy Old Dogs, it seems that cooler heads may have prevailed for once. The movie was a pretty big bomb for the Mouse House, making just $40 million, and now they are actually responding by cutting back on other similar projects as a result.
Earlier this week, Disney announced that they were putting the kibosh on another Robin Williams vehicle that was in development called Wedding Banned. Now today Variety is reporting that they have also pulled the plug on Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride, the sequel to the 2007 biker comedy starring John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy. This is pretty surprising considering that the original made $253 million worldwide. Allen, Lawrence and Macy can all blame Travolta for the fact that they won’t be getting another paycheck here. For the rest of us though, I think this is good news, and it gives us a bit of hope for the future. The moral of the story is, don’t pay to see terrible movies!

Thank. God.
Posted by Ovenball on December 17th, 2009They should make Young Dogs instead, with babies riding Green Machines or Harley replicas, but voiced by all the actors in Old Dogs. Brett Ratner could direct. Just imagine the number of poop and throw-up jokes!
Who wouldn’t pay to see that!
Posted by KeithTalent on December 17th, 2009i am a bit confused? On one hand I am glad that someone spiked a wild hogs remake, but if it made 253 million why didn’t they want to make it and what part of the credit for the original earnings didn’t Travolta help in create?
Posted by xego on December 17th, 2009Ok my mistake…sorry sean, I didn’t know anything about “old dogs” never even heard of it (not surprising) so your logic is …logical…and I am …an arsehole…how come they don’t ever give you the option of deleting your own posts?

Posted by christina on February 16th, 2010I loved the 1st one….
And the only thing that I hope is “don’t pay to see another cgi movie….”
that’s the point….
hollywood is still making special effects with no story.
so aliens, monsters, speaking robots, avatars, dead actors still hit the theaters in future but true live actors no…
