Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland Full Theatrical Trailer

Another new trailer for Tim Burton’s 3-D take on Alice in Wonderland has arrived. It is colourful and twisted, but it seems to be going for a much more traditional fantasy feel than originally anticipated. I can see why people are comparing it to The Lord of the Rings (or, perhaps more appropriately, The Chronicles of Narnia). Since when are there dragons in Wonderland?
Either way, the visuals look interesting but I’m not 100% sold. The environments still seem a bit sparse and empty to me, and the large CG armies aren’t going to make up for that. I’m wondering how much the 3-D element will enhance the experience. The performances also seem fun… I wonder who Johnny Depp is drawing on for inspiration this time around. Watch the trailer after the jump, or get the HD experience over at Yahoo!. Alice in Wonderland hits theatres on March 5th.

Posted by rus in chicago on December 16th, 2009It’s not a dragon, it’s a jabberwocky.
Posted by twilightfox on December 17th, 2009Sean, you ignorant goose. This isn’t the adaptation of the Lewis Carroll story – this is apparently Alice going back a few years later as an 18 year old or something like that. I guess they’re making this one up as the stroll along.
Posted by Nick Robertson on December 17th, 2009I appreciate the mascara commercial after the trailer.
Looks great. I am a big fan of dragons, bonely or otherwise.
Posted by Henrik on December 17th, 2009Dragon? Do you mean the Jabberwock? That creature was indeed part of Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland.

But I do agree with you. The epic fantasy thing they seem to be going for is giving me mixed feelings. I really hope the war isn’t too large of a part of it. It might be the first Tim Burton movie I’ll have to deliberately skip in a long time.
Posted by Senor G on December 17th, 2009Jabberwock you say? Alright then.
Posted by Sean on December 17th, 2009Goddamn we have some Literate folks here…Jabberwoky…Dragons…in my day to day travails interacting with the rest of the populous of Earth I wouldn’t expect to meet anyone that could pull up that literary reference…in the spirit of Christmas “God bless us, everyone”
Posted by xego on December 17th, 2009meh. didn’t do anything for me.
Posted by Napalm on December 19th, 2009Hmmm. So by the looks of it, this is a fantasy epic, and it’s not really in line with the acid dream of Carroll’s Wonderland. Does that make it a bad movie? Not necessarily, but it doesn’t seem particularly interesting. I guess if you liked Narnia but could do without the Christian symbolism, then go for it.
