This week’s DVD release line-up may not be huge in terms of quantity, but it makes up for it with quality. Inglourious Basterds, The Hangover and G-Force will all probably be hot items to throw under the Christmas tree this year. Also out this week is Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock and The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (previously only available for rental), along with the fourth season of Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken. On Blu-ray, it’s the third and final season of Star Trek: The Original Series and The Mel Brooks Collection, meanwhile Best Buy has the exclusive debut of Boogie Nights in high-def. Will you be doing any DVD shopping this week?

  1. saved my Best Buy Reward points for I.B. going at lunch, whoo hoo

  2. I’ve been looking around here for the Boogie Nights Blu-ray, but the Best Buy here does not appear to have it Is that confirmed for Canada, or do we have to wait until January when Magnolia comes out?

Picked up I.B. today and I think I will watch it tonight!

  3. Boogie Nights is only available at Best Buy in the U.S.

  4. I am totally conflicted now…A BLu-Ray player purchase is in the near future, so do I get I.B in SD or wait? I hate waiting. Any tips on what Blu ray in the $200 region would be great. Film Junk Rocks…

  5. just got thru the I.B. blue ray…so beautiful, so very beautiful.

The extras are typical QT shit, a dick massage session between QT, Brad and Elvis Mitchell, lots of stuff with Rod Taylor!? a very dumb game…

In the Brad interview QT stress AGAIN how Brad knows what the scar means and he will NEVER TELL!! Brad even jokes that he will tell one day. I think QT has this over developed belief he is creating childlike secret clubs with his actors and crew. I think this is why he doesn’t do shit for extras as he feels commentaries and behind-the-scenes stuff would violate his club rules. I think he loves leaving his fans outside and thinking about them stressing over the unknown. And HES RIGHT! FUCK!

  6. xego – do what I did: sold my xbox 360 and got the PS3. I don’t game a lot so I didn’t need the xbox. the xbox made to much noise during film watching. the ps3 is quiet and small. only draw back was the ps3 doesn’t work with my infrared universal remote. oh well, need to get up to put the dvd in anyway!

  7. Thanks Rus,
That’s always bugged me about QT DVDs the lack of scene specific commentaries. You would think that QT of all people would love the chance to do talk about himself and his films. I guess he took his cue from Spielberg, why didn’t he take it from Scorsese? The Criterion Laser Disc of Taxi Driver Commentary was great, I don’t think that ever made it on the dvd.
