These are just animations of the Ricky Gervais Show podcasts and XFM radio shows there is no canned laughter added that just Ricky’s laugh to hear more irrelevance from the braincase of Karl Pilkington check out pilkipedia for all there shows

Seems pretty similar to the former Comedy Central show Shorties Watchin’ Shorties, where they took bits of various stand-up routines and added animation:

Prior to that, Dr. Katz sort of did the same thing, where stand-up comedians would basically do parts of their act while appearing as “patients” of Dr. Katz.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking this new Ricky Gervais show. I liked both of the aforementioned cartoons and I like Gervais.

Jay and I just got back from doing our first Cantankerous on the road, and now I find out that Karl Pilkington, to whom I’ve often been compared, has his own travel show! I guess my lot in life is to be a poor man’s Karl Pilkington. I should really try to listen to some of his stuff.

You are bang on, my first thought on seeing that picture was Fred Flinstone.

But Pilkington is a fascinating subject for Merchant and Gervais to constant riff off of. Not unlike your own Reed Farrington vs. Dwyer/Cheel dynamic in Cantankerous.

It’s not canned laughter, it’s just that the one clip aired on The Late Show so it’s Letterman’s audience laughing.
