A Prophet Trailer

Jacques Audiard’s A Prophet (Un Prophete) was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film earlier today, helping to build on the buzz that already started when it won the Grand Prix runner-up prize at Cannes in May. Sony Pictures Classics will release the film stateside early next year, and a new domestic trailer has just hit the web.
A Prophet is a crime drama about a 19-year-old Arab who is sentenced to six years in a French prison. He is taken under the wing of a Corsican godfather and forced to run jobs for the mafia, leading to conflict both internal and external. The trailer looks pretty awesome to me so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this one. A Prophet hits select theatres on February 26th. Check out the trailer after the jump or watch it in HD over at Apple.com.

I VE SEEN IT LIKE 4 MONTHS AGO..
ITS AN OK MOVIE…
NO BIG DEAL..
Posted by kyriakos on December 15th, 2009I have seen this twice in the theatre already and I absolutely love the film.
Not sure if it is better than The White Ribbon as I have yet to see that (hoping to later this week) but it is an excellent prison drama with very solid performances throughout. The story grabbed me right away and never let go for the entire 2.5 hours.
Posted by KeithTalent on December 15th, 2009I’d concede that there are some flaws to the film. The whole ghost sub-story was chliched and didn’t fit in well for me, while some secondary characters (Corsicans) felt underdeveloped. Overall though, I really liked it. Great visuals, compelling story and quality acting all around (particulary the 3 mains). Much easier to sit through for the average filmgoer than the White Ribbon as well, could have good commercial potential if marketed well.
