Monday Morning Box Office Report: The Princess and the Frog is Invictus

Disney took the box office crown over the weekend with The Princess and the Frog, a successful return to 2-D animation that certainly didn’t do huge numbers, but still quietly earned the highest-grossing opening for an animated movie in December. The Blind Side continued its surprise success with another $15.5 million, taking its grand total past the $150 million mark. Clint Eastwood’s Invictus had a somewhat lacklustre first weekend, earning just $9 million, while The Twilight Saga: New Moon and A Christmas Carol remained in the Top 5. Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air just barely missed out on breaking the Top 10, accumulating $2.4 million on just 72 screens.
