Watch the First Five Minutes of [REC] 2 Online

We were lucky enough to catch the sequel to the amazing Spanish zombie film [REC] at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this year, and it also played at Fantastic Fest in Austin, but I know there are a ton of horror fans out there who are still dying to see this film. With all the excitement surrounding it, I’m not sure why [REC] 2 can’t seem to get a theatrical release here in North America. Since Sony owns the rights, I suspect they may be holding it back so that it doesn’t hurt the U.S. version Quarantine and its own sequel. Word on the street is that [REC] 2 will go direct-to-DVD here sometime in 2010.
At any rate, the movie has already been released in Spain and New Zealand, and I believe it will be hitting theatres in France, Italy and Japan early next year. French site Allocine is currently hosting the first five minutes of the movie, and although there are no English subtitles, I thought some people might be interested in checking it out. It certainly gets across the fact that the sequel picks up right where the original left off, and maintains the same frenetic pace. Oh, and in case you were wondering, [REC] 3 is already in development! Check out the first five minutes of [REC] 2 embedded after the jump.

Posted by face on December 11th, 2009The first one already is a classic and part 2 looks awesome as well. I don’t mind the french subtitles, you get the idea anyway.

I have been looking forward to part 2. With all the crap hollywood films releases in our theaters you would think they would release this good one. Then again, The Midnight Meat Train got the shaft as well.
Posted by Film-Book dot Com on December 14th, 2009Looks good. Too bad the clip stopped before there was any action. I hope it comes to American theaters, though I’m sure it won’t so they can do Quarantine 2. Can’t wait to see it on DVD.
