how come Gomorrah and The Class were in this years? I saw them both last year! Or were they only released this year for you guys? i preferred The Class to Gomorrah but they are very different films and hard to compare

I thought Parnassus was not even out yet? I saw it at the film festival and it is one of my favourite films of the year, but I imagine it will not do well in the poll if nobody has seen it.

Anyway, everything else I had a pretty obvious choice, though as mentioned i would have preferred a more robust selection of foreign films.

Nate: I didn’t want to pick just 5 nominees for Best Movie of the Year since there would be a lot of varying opinions on that. If I had more time to put it together I would have figured out a way to do the free form text entry for it.

aspioaokassodsÃ¸kasdkÃ¸l: Taken wasn’t released in North America until January 2009, believe it or not.

gayrasd: I like to think my lack of Photoshop skills are charming. Either way, if you send me your e-mail address and I will contact you next time I need a Photoshop collage of some sort.

bullet3: Most people seem to expect Year in Review type discussions to take place in December rather than January, but it might be an idea for next year to hold off another month.

Hey Sean, its obvious that you suck at photoshop, or atleast at cutting out pictures and making them fit in. First i thought you were in a hurry, but for a big event like this, you have proved your skill. And it’s not to offend you in any kind of way.
If you need photoshopping of something, i’ll gladely help you for free.

Why is Taken a nominee? That movie is from 2008, and not even late 2008, but actually very early.

Drew: Unfortunately I had to use a different plug-in for the survey this year and it doesn’t allow for free form text entry fields. Otherwise I would have had at least one text field for Best Movie of the Year, if not more.

AlexG: Heard good things about Lebanon at TIFF but I don’t think it’s been released here yet. White Ribbon also doesn’t get a theatrical release in North America until December 30th I believe.

DavidM: Good point, I never thought of Moon as a foreign film, I guess because it stars Sam Rockwell. Either way, the comedy category was pretty full already, that’s really the only reason I threw In The Loop under foreign.
