The fact that they’re doing this as a movie and that Smallville may be wrapping up after this season, this smacks of a possible spinoff – or spinoffs, if they decide to base series’ around individual characters instead of a team based show.

Smallville is still going strong! It beat ABC and FOX in the “adults 18-49″ demographics this October and has a huge cult following. Just ask around, you’ll be surprised how many Smallville DVD junkies there are. It’s currently in it’s 9th season. Clark has become a full-time super hero, he’s wearing the Superman S symbol and kicking some major butt.

They’d probably be better off just doing direct to DVD feature films at this point anyway. People only care about the episodes with other superheroes in them.

To be honest, up until about a month ago I thought this show had been off the air for at least 2 years.
