Weekly Poll Results: Best Nicolas Cage Movie

pollresultsniccage

Plenty of votes were cast in last week’s poll, but in the end, The Coen Brothers’ Raising Arizona was chosen as Nicolas Cage’s finest film to date, followed closely by Spike Jonze’s Adaptation. A ways behind those two films, Face/Off was a bit of a surprise at #3, while Leaving Las Vegas and Lord of War rounded out the top 5. All in all, the votes were spread around quite a bit, and various suggestions of additional films like Wild at Heart, Vampire’s Kiss and Bringing Out the Dead make it clear that, contrary to popular belief, the man actually has a decent array of respected flicks under his belt. Do you agree with these results? Where would Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans rank in the list?

1. Raising Arizona — 24%
2. Adaptation — 21.4%
3. Face/Off — 10.1%
4. Leaving Las Vegas — 9.4%
5. Lord of War — 8.3%
6. The Rock — 8.1%
7. Matchstick Men — 6%
8. Con Air — 4.8%
9. The Weather Man — 3.9%
9. National Treasure — 3.9%

  1. I kind of figured Raising Arizona would win. But Adaptation isn’t just the best Nick Cage film IMO. Its the best film about writing and one of the best movies ever made.

  2. I would’ve gone with Wicker Man, but seeing as how it wasn’t on the poll I picked Adaptation.

  3. Peggy Sue Got Married? That’s a decent Nic Cage. Didn’t he sport a goatee in one film?

He’s also hilarious in The Cotton Club.

    Fuck the bandwagon!

  4. Not to bang on but Wild at Heart would’ve walked this imo.

  5. From a cinema POV, perhaps ‘Adaptation’ is his best.

I am surprised to see missing from this list ‘City of Angels.’

Just watched ‘Bringing Out the Dead,’ and glad to see it isn’t in the top ten. Frankly, it sucks. (Man, oh, man, what over-theatricalization drug was Scorcese on? It has to rank with his worst.)

I actually enjoyed ‘Next’ much more than most on this list. I know it wasn’t received well, but…
